My Country Life - Spring Cleaning and Seeds Prep

in #homesteading5 years ago

Lately I have been sharing a bit more about my life in the countryside so I thought I would come up with a title for posts related to it.

Today's weather was nice so I took advantage of it and cleaned up the area around our hazelnut trees. There's a lot of fall out from the trees and since it was winter (without snow though) we didn't bother much cleaning it. Now that the spring is aproaching and grass will start to grow soon, I took this task to myself and already cleaned a bit a week ago or so, before the rainy days came. Now that they are gone, I can continue. Tomorrow I'll do some more cleaning.

My Plan

This is our biggest hazelnut tree and the biggest tree in our garden. It's very tall and gives a lot of shade in the summer. I am planning to make this "my chill area". I'll probably put two logs, one for sitting and one that will serve as a table, for coffee. Or maybe something else that will serve the same purpose. I love this area for relaxing and chilling.

SEEDS

We are starting to gather seeds for planting that will start soon. Some seeds like different kinds of peppers, cabbage and more, we have from last year. Some we buy and some we get/exchange with other gardeners/neighbors. There's a few more that we will get tomorrow from the locals but here are ones we got today:

Other pictures from today

My mom promised me a bottle of this blackberry wine for International Women's Day and she kept her promise! :D I tried this specific wine once, when we got it as a gift and I loved it. It is quite sweet and I guess that's why I like it. I didn't open the bottle yet so I guess I'll leave it for tomorrow. I don't drink too often or too much these years, but a little bit of wine or occasional beer with friends is something I do enjoy.

Today's lunch made by my dad. Gotta take full advantage of a nice day! :) Cooking outside is amazing. We don't do it too often, maybe a few times a month during spring and summer and it's usually on Sundays but sometimes it happens randomly like today. I am not in charge of cooking, by the way, I prefer baking and making cakes a lot more.

It has been a busy day cleaning with some time spent at the library in the late afternoon. It's already 10pm here so that means bed time for me soon. I hope you had a great day!
