Launch, Day Of Printing, Pepper, Cardboard, Dummies, First Wrestling Practice - Monday

in Homesteading15 days ago

Made me laugh yesterday morning when I saw a post somewhere saying that Elon was about to embarrass Bezos with his launch and not sure he exactly did but the Falcon went up without a hitch while Bezos's sat on the pad still. I mean SpaceX HAS had a lot of practice at it now...

With the first dummies made for us I have grabbed just about everything I can find on Printables for them and the entire day was spent feeding the printer files and pulling the parts when done. Some screw ups here and there not paying close enough attention to where supports are needed.

While checking the mail I stopped in and watered the plants in the studio and am still amazed that the pepper plant is looking so good. The grow light and constant temps really helps it seems.

Frame sheets came off with a few hand sets in PETG.

I found some good hand sets that I got printed in grey PETG along with the better heads. The middle fingers are great! The signs are going to be handy for @stryeyz's dummy at her work.

We use the cardboard and various burnables to start the fireplace in the house but once it is going we don't need more. That leads to a rather large accumulation of burnables both inside and out. I spent time mid day cleaning it all up in the house and hauling it to the storage area in the wood cover. I then broke down all the boxes outside and piled them in as well.

When we inevitably get this much piled mid winters, which ALWAYS happens, it gets to be time to get burn piles going in the gardens to deal with piled branches and debris around the farm. The cardboard becomes invaluable as the fire starter to get the always damp or wet wood burning.

The boys got home from school and walked in to see my dummies like this. They both laughed their asses off and began digging through all the accessories I had printed out so far. I really like these heads much better but the Isaac robot heads are kinds nifty.

Women's heads, signs, stand bases, and an armor card came off. I was stoked to find the ice axe in a Tomb Raider weapon file and I have one of my dummies hanging in a figure 4 over me now.

That time of year again when wrestling starts up. The whole first month and a half is just practices before the first tournaments start up in March.

There was a good number of kids that showed and R has a bunch of his friends there. He has had a lingering cough that caused him to hork 3 times during the day but the cough syrup seemed to help with dinner so he was much better for practice.

I went back to the house during the practice and and spent time on my practice. This is the absolute closest I could get without being in... the top dart is bending the wire down.... SO DAMNED CLOSE!!!

I made my way back to the school in time to catch the last of the practice.

This year R is not the shortest finally! Coach Nick on the right is the younger brother of our chiro and their entire (MASSIVE) family has their names on the wrestling records boards in the gym. Not kidding like 11 boys...

R has to soak after practices to use the chlorine to help eliminate the staph like stuff that can easily be picked up from wrestling mats. It's faster and easier especially when it is after 8pm on a school night.

The print had come off shortly after I got in the house with the translucent orange armor sheets and other parts. I then swapped back to the black PETG and set the frame repair pack to print which is 5 dummies worth of frame parts on one plate. I turned the print speed down to 25% to try and quiet it as we went to sleep. It took over 5 hours to print but it came out perfectly.

J had a bunch of kids asking for them so I'm trying to get a number pumped out.

Today I get the boys to school first thing, will keep the printer extruding away, R has an appointment mid day that I will have to pick him up for and take him into town, then J has volleyball tonight so will have dinner ready early for them.
