It was full on dumping yesterday morning when I woke up as the storm was plowing past us. I watched the water sheeting off the roof in the yard light glow of predawn.
I was a bit surprised it moved off as fast as it did but once the light of day hit and the back side of the storm came through I found out why it went so fast.
After getting the boys to school I first thing got on the miner. I ended up realizing that I had extra wire in the house that I was able to pull through enough that I got the ethernet cable into the greenhouse so I have no splices. I plugged it into the S19, plugged in the power, and the thing popped to connection on the internet. Soon I had it hashing away.
My S9 has the Braiins firmware which allows better tuning than the Antminer so I installed the Braiins on the S19 and it made a big difference. I now have it sitting at 115TH/s with the fans at max 70% and it is sitting at a max of 58C this morning. Put it to solo XEC but switched it to DGB for a bit. Picked up a DGB block overnight and if I can snag another I will move back over to XEC and let the S19 roll on that and probably the S9 on DGB. Will see how things go the next days.
I was sitting at my computer working on the pool connections when I heard a crash and looked out as the top of the tree next to my truck came crashing down and grenaded in the driveway. I'm truly astonished and amazed that nothing hit my truck, at least no damage happened to my truck which was 5 feet from the impact.
Apparently the top had been dead long enough that the rot had gone too far and down it came in one of the higher wind gusts.
The biggest part is 6 inch diameter and the debris was scattered over a 40x50 foot area. The minimum 70ft fall gave it a good bit of momentum so it exploded on impact.
I stood in the yard and watched the trees swaying huge amounts. The two massive old Ponderosa Pines lean a lot and in the wind smacked against each other which dropped a number of branches that I had to step back from as they fell. As the winds began to taper I got the debris cleaned up and hauled to the yard where I dumped it all by the fire pit to try and burn.
The winds on the back of the storm were like bouncers kicking everyone out of the venue when the lights come on, in a huge hurry and don't give a fuck about what anyone says. The sun FINALLY came out fully for the first time in what seems like weeks. Yet we only have .66" of rain this month which is SOOOOO Far behind even our average....
I was quite curious about the upper property as I had seen so many of the trees moving like grass in the wind. I hiked up as it was still blowing a good bit. With no snow the valley has a tinge of green from the grass trying to grow despite the fact that it's December and almost Winter Solstice.
PDC, I'm a big fan of Ricky Evans, he's a funny person with a big personality, is the fastest dart thrower on record, and he won his match to move on. The match before him had the first 9 dart leg of the tournament and a random fan in the audience got $60k for it.
The American Gates was up against Asp and he did pretty well until about halfway through when Asp kicked into gear and won the match.
We ended up with a pretty nice sunset I was able to glimpse through the trees.
I had no desire to cook so ordered pizza from Backroads which @stryeyz picked up on her way home from work. I was trying for the stupid center bull and managed this...
Surprisingly got a longer soak in before heading for bed.
Woke to the first block on the S19 this morning so I will wait for the next then switch it back around. I'll get the boys to school first thing, I have to get the tables setup in the greenhouse to begin seed starting now that the miner/heater is going, PDC is still going on, then mid day I get my root canal which I am looking forward to as it will help eliminate the abscess or hopefully keep it from coming back.

Of course, we got that crazy wind at our house, too. One tree came down on the edge of our property, but somebody else pushed it off the road. We've gotten a little more rain than you have, over an inch of precipitation on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of that was snow, but most of it was rain. Our yard turned to slop, and then froze.
It's been weirdly dry here this month but the next week looks wet, though not likely enough to bring the monthly total up too much. As long as the snow pack is good then I'm fine since that is more important. It's really crazy the starkly different micro climates we have all around this region.
I used to love the snow, and I'd go out and play in it with my kids. Now I look at it less benevolently, and am perfectly content to have it stay up in the mountains. If I want to play in it, I know where to find it.
