Raising Greenhouse, Plastic Install, PDC, Fire, Balsa Plane, Grilling - Saturday

Yesterday morning I was out in the greenhouse and first thing I did was to raise all the legs of the hoops. The old plastic was 4 feet narrower than the new so I had to lower the hoops to fit it. Now with the wider plastic I can raise them up and give myself a lot more space inside. I hauled my floor jack in and found a piece of wood the right length. I used the wood and jack to lift the hoops at the purlins.

I did this for every hoop on the south side then came back down the north side and did the same. Once the leg was where I wanted it I installed the metal screws to lock it in place.

It is now 7 feet to the top purlin, gaining me over 6 inches of height and over the 40 foot length a healthy amount of extra cubic feet.

Then I got the plastic pulled to the south side enough that the edge of plastic was even with the base board, actually just a bit past so there was a bit of overlap.

All the furring strips got installed and the north edge is locked in place. I may go back later and fold over the edge then reinstall the strips but for now this should suffice.

The PDC is on daily now with 5am and 11am sessions. I caught the 5am then had the 11am session on. It is crazy to see the various players fall apart and have horrible games while others have outstanding games. The stage is pretty big and the crowd quite raucous so it takes some nerves to effort I 'm sure to block it all out.

It was near dark and I got the fire going in the pit for the evening.

The boys recently got some balsa airplanes which are notorious for being brittle. I had an extra set held aside so I pulled one out and found my can of urethane. I cut open a paper bag to cover the table then took it outside and gave the plane a nice coating.

I let it drip dry for a bit then hung it up in the house in the line of the fan to help force the drying.

The point is to try and make the thing more durable and to lock all the flight surfaces into place so it won't fly wonky. The urethane didn't add too much weight but it is a bit heavier. Today it will get a test flight outside to see if my idea was a good one or a waste of time and urethane.

The boys managed to get potatoes cut up for fries and in the oven so I was able to get our burgers grilled with the remaining coals of the fire.

Mid afternoon UFC 296 came on so I had that on the rest of the evening.

I'm trying to build the consistent regular aim and the practice is helping immensely. J is even noticing the vast improvement he is gaining from the regular practice.

I've got an interesting ability to read the fighters as they walk to the ring. When the camera is on them as they walk out I am able to tell which one is going to win the match based only on how their face and eyes look as they step out into the stadium. Each of the fights I was able to see the walk ins for I called the winner. NOW, I am pretty sure that this is likely due to the fact that I have nothing to lose, or gain, from it so there is now pressure. If I were to put money on it I feel like I wouldn't trust my instincts as well and would second guess myself. I am so willing to gamble with my life in extreme sports but money.... whoa... no way!!

It was obvious from the walkout that Colby was going to lose, his face said it all and then his actions backed it up. Edwards was the favorite so a winning bet wouldn't have amounted to much but still...

I gave up on the fight as it was obvious then went to soak.

Today I will be working on the greenhouse more as I have to raise the wood on the south side that the plastic gets mounted to and the rollup is below. The ends have to get framed in to the hoops and I am likely going to be able to fit the french doors in the for the greenhouse. The extra height will allow me to widen the door frame which should fit the pair of doors. I don't have enough of the new plastic for the ends so will likely just double up the old plastic.

PDC is on now and later, Man Utd will get rekt by Liverpool in a couple hours, then this evening I will end up grilling again for dinner.

Your greenhouse looks big
I like that!

It's a shame that in my area there are no farmers who make greenhouses even though it is very good for plants

We need them for sure this far north but closer to the equator there is far more sun and heat so they become a bit less necessary.

even though the local government has provided training on how to make them and made residents aware of how important greenhouses in our area are for farmers

I think it’s really cool the boys are helping with the cooking. It’s an excellent life skill to learn.

J decided he wanted to make his first batch of tortillas today mostly on his own. I showed him some key things but he did good. I love that both boys are enjoying cooking, it's a vital skill for life.

It's interesting to see your boys help in cooking, i certain their meal will be so tasty.
I admire your greenhouse, it's so huge

It is not easy to take care of things like this, it takes a lot of effort when something goes wrong.
