Thanks to the later harvest on Sunday I had a lighter harvest yesterday morning. I don't mind the variance since we have a bit of a glut of produce on hand now.
Mid morning I headed up the hill to check on the fence and the upper property. It is such a stark difference our property compared to where we were in Canada, so much drier.
Found a good scattering of feathers under the preening trees overlooking the river valley.
This old antifreeze can in the upper pen is actually still legible.
I said I would get the roof done this week but ended up going for it yesterday. First I pulled the plastic off and swept all the crap off.
Then I had to gather the rest of the sheets which meant breaking down the dividers. I had to bash out some of the wood but got them apart.
I had 12 sheets all piled by the shed.
One by one I laid them down and screwed them down with about an inch overlap.
The last sheet was a bit fun to fix down but I managed to stay on the roof despite the slickness of the metal.
I remembered I had a light socket in the tool shed so I got it hooked up and fixed to the back wall so I have a bit more light behind the gear.
Back installing the sheets I moved to the front and got the rest of the 12 sheets installed. But I was still 2 short so I had to go rip apart one more divider.
Thankfully it was weather worn so came apart with a little effort.
Before too long I had the last 2 sheets installed. The uncovered area to the right is past the wall and I really should hack it down.
From the garden shed roof I pulled the 2 corner protectors which I am using as roof cap. I cut one piece down then got them both fixed down.
I'm pretty happy with my sorta ghetto roofing job. The most important thing is that is protects everything inside which it looks to do with ease. This leaves only 2 buildings on the property without a metal roof and I have enough for the smallest one so just need for the garden shed.
Hooked the trailer up for the grain run I have done this morning already.
I got dinner made, we fought with the boys over cleaning, then made it out to soak for a while. My knees and legs were torched from standing on the roof at weird angles and pressing super hard with my legs to stay put on the slick metal.
I got the grain this morning already and now have to go empty it but I am spreading it in the garlic garden area again so have to wheelbarrow it a ways. Today is a weird weather day with some showers moved through before light and then red flag this afternoon. I have harvests, cleanup from the roofing project, the yard lights need to get restrung for much of the inner yard, and tonight are the boys' open houses at school.

Good job my friend
Your ghetto roofing job finally paid off, good job friend!
In the end ghetto is better than nothing. Maybe ghetto isn't the right term, rural sounds a bit better.
Pure things have very special benefits on our health.
