Snow, 3d Printing, Rack Shelf Install, Constant Pain, Dinner - Monday

in Homesteading7 hours ago

The dusting of snow we got held on overnight and into the morning yesterday but it began melting pretty fast. I got R to school but J stayed home for the day and I stuffed him with vitamins. My back was still super sore so my day was again spent inside babying it.

I got the printer going first thing working on the parts for the honeycomb windmill. It is 3 pieces that spin on a rod with a tail for vaning.

I was trying to devise a shelf for the filament trash can and found I have room but I had to move the paper towel roll. I had printed the brackets but wanted a rod between them so I went to the tool shed and found a dowel that I cut to size.

Then I used one of the sides for the wagon and fixed it to the cabinet where it holds the can nicely next to the printer.

The middle part of the windmill.

And not much later the last of the 3 main pieces. I got my chiro appointment scheduled for this morning which I'm anxious to get adjusted to hopefully loosen my back up.

This is where things got a bit awry. The vane part is perfect but the two rods turned out to be insanely brittle. I had the way wrong settings for them so will have to run them separately today with finer settings. I did get the last of the dummy armors made for J's class orders.

Still having a bit of filament on a spool I have this glider model that I can print a ton of. They take 10 minutes each and about .15oz of filament and can get me down to very minimal waste.

R had wrestling practice so I got dinner going. It essentially ended up taco salads without the taco seasoning. @stryeyz took him to and from practice as I was not in any shape to drive.

I found a case and scaled and printed it out. I want to keep our EMF meter in it but the first one I printed was too shallow so I had to scale and print it again. I use straightened paper clips for the hinge and it works great.

Went out to soak and got a cycle in before having to head inside.

More snow this morning but less then before. It's to get bitter cold for the week with more snow possible tonight/tomorrow. Today I'll get the boys to school, go to my chiro appointment, keep the printer going,
then J and @stryeyz have volleyball this evening.
