It was trying to rain when I got up yesterday morning and the forecast was for wet all day. After the fiasco of Friday I was not feeling up to much of anything and after letting the birds out and checking that the massive pit was still dry and not full of water I watched the travesty that was the Man Utd match. I couldn't help but laugh at how completely useless the players are and at every goal against. Billion dollar team that should really be in the b or c league not the top tier. Looking more and more like a money laundering scheme than a football team.
This was just start of the wet for the day.
By 10am it was raining and it kept it up for the whole day.
Finished off a spool so weighed it so I can determine how much is left on the spools when they get low. 145 grams per spool or 150 for easy math.
By noon the rain had really set in with a constant pounding on the pergola on the deck.
I printed out the Meshtastic antenna parts and got a piece of copper wire cut to lengths. I had to widen the channels in the base for the larger wires.
It took a while to get the vertical figured out as the soldering iron wasn't doing the job.
In the afternoon UFC 310 came on and I got it on just in time to watch local fighter Mike Chiesa win his match easily on his birthday. There was a number of really good fights the rest of the evening.
Eventually the sky decided to spit ice at us, refusing to turn to actual snow yet.
The deck showed the dots of ice but they got washed away by the interspersed rain.
Managed to get the coax soldered to the so239 then shrunk the heat shrink around it.
I plugged it into my VNA and tried the 900 MHz range but wasn't getting a good response, I think the larger wire made the wire lengths wrong so it looked like it was reading lower than the 900 MHz range. I may try cutting new ground plane lengths longer and trying them today. I want this for the #Meshtastic base node to hopefully get a really good signal range.
Eventually it decided to actually start snowing, but it was the very end of the storm and only dusted the ground around the farm. There are just a few patches of white-ish as I look outside right now, and they will be gone as soon as the sun is up.
Got out to soak later as was watching the end of the UFC.
Today I HAVE to deal with the water line since it will be in the mid 20s F for lows in the next days and I don't need it freezing and breaking. The Kraken play early today then the Seahawks mid day. I'll get more prints done and dink with the antenna some more.
