Growing of pumpkin in my small garden

in Homesteadinglast year

Today I want to write about my pumpkin garden.
Having a pumpkin garden is not something anyone can go into just like that, reason because it needs to be taken proper care of. I use to see farmers growing this pumpkin in a disgusting way that after planting it animal like goats will enter the farm and eat them and the farmer will lose everything, sometimes rain will wash them out.
So with that experience, I discovered that while it happens that way was because the farmer don't have the knowledge on the time phrase.

To make sure that what happened to their pumpkin garden did not happen to mine.
I used their experiences to make mine different.

In growing my pumpkin, the first I did was to buy the seedlings and leave it for about a month for it to decay and start germinating on it's own without being planted in the garden. Then I prepared my garden by tilling a small portion of land in my backyard. Note, not all the seed will survive within the one month, those that survived are the ones I planted.

Before tilling the ground for the garden, I bought a fowl manure because fowl manure is always good for garden, then I pour the manure on the garden and till it together with ground for it to mix very well.

After tilling the ground and the garden was ready for planting I then transplanted the pumpkin to the garden, I will come every morning to water the garden and also do the same thing by evening time, I also use a net to round the garden to protect it from domestic animals like goats and from children not to uproot it. Then as was growing I will mix goat shit with water to spplinkel it for pest not to affect it.

Pumpkin can be planted in both dry and raining season but I prefer planting mine in dry season because in raining season it can be washed away by erosion.
Growing of pumpkin is better of in dry season than in raining season. I took proper care of my pumpkin garden regardless of anything I made sure it was protected and it was looking very fresh which made some of my neighbors that have the same garden started seeking advice from me.

Meanwhile as it was growing I use a dry bamboo stick to direct it so that it will not be scattered on the ground but rather grow straight high and have balance in other for beauty to show very well.
