SLOWLY BUT SURELY
That's how we win the race, right?π Well, if so I'm definitely doing well at getting the dam done. We've been having record hot days the last couple of weeks and it makes all masonry work difficult.
*This is where I was when I gave you all my last update... bottom footing poured and a base layer of stone layed on top of it.
After that step it was time to start setting the stones upright on their edges to build the side of the dam that will face the water reservoir.
*A few stones set in place.
*A little tiny buttress to give even more added strength to the dam.πͺπͺ
Then it literally just becomes a game of staking stones on edge on top of one another.... perfectly level left and right, and fore and aft, and perfectly plum as well....all while making sure that every joint is perfectly sealed to ensure it's waterproofedness.ππ... I promise it's a real word.(In my head.π)
*It's around 30"(0.85 meters) tall at this point.
The dams total height when completed will be around eight feet(1.9 meters) So we are approaching half the height, but before that the wing footings for the dam dug and poured. And even more reinforcement in the form of rebar had to be added.
*A picture right after the first wing footing pour. Sorry for the poor picture quality, it was a long day and I finished at night.ππ
The wing footing gets the same treatment the lower, main footing got. We lay stones flat across the footing to start a good support for the walls of the dam.
*A good picture showing how it has been growing slowly but surely.
The dam is currently about fifteen feet(5 meters) across so it is about 60 percent of it total final length. Exciting stuff if you ask me!π
*A view from the reservoir side of the dam.
Hey dear @johndoer123 I was curiously waiting for the update of the dam, and finally you are here in telling us about the progress of the dam. But sorry I am late in responding to you.
I like that you guys are doing a great job and trying to complete the work quickly. It is best to know that you have completed half of the dam in its height. And you are really funny π€£ waterproof.
Best of luck buddy hope you will complete it soon and will share the updates here.
