Time for a new outside light

in Homesteading10 months ago

One of the first things I noticed when we moved outside of town and into the country was just how dark it is on a night. There is very little light pollution where we are. When we moved in we had an old halogen light so when I got home on a night it was light on the drive, when I got out of my car.

So when the old light broke, a new light became job priority number one.

My husband doesnt do heights or ladders. He bought a scaffolding tower so he could do some work on the rendering when we sold our old house. So out came the instructions .....

My husband got the scaffolding assembled and then let my dad fit the light !

We had a look at the old light to see why it had broken. Some of the components had burnt out so there was no chance of fixing it. Not for the first time around the house we think insects had been nesting inside it.

We bought the new light from toolstation in the UK. Its a V-TAC IP65 LED Floodlight 100W Black 13700lm. It was mail order only unfortunatley. It turns its self on at dusk and off at sunrise. The IP65 means its waterproof so hopefully we shouldn't get anything nesting inside it.

I have to say its very bright. I can see bottom of my garden when it's on and I feel alot better getting out of the car on a night when I can see where I am going. The light is around the other side of the house from where I took this photo.

I'm very happy with it! Thanks for reading this far.

Loving that scaffolding tower. Looks really useful.

Its lightweight aliminium and very easy for one person to put up and take down. My husband can do it himself, he just cant bring himself to climb it !
