Be Blessed In Abundance ...๐
Hi there,
Good to have you around. Check out the previous blog here on how it started.
Fruitful Actions ...๐
โItโs what you sow that multiplies, not what you keep in the barn."
โ Adrian Rogers
Starting out with the little I had proved worthy. In less than two days, the first set of eggs came in. It takes around 3 days or more to fertilize the eggs after mating, so I believe the snails must have mated prior to arrival.
That being said, it showed the environment was favorable and they were (most likely) enjoying their stay (in captivity).
It was time to try out the next rightful thing to do; incubate the eggs in a separate enclosure. In their natural environment, eggs would be laid few inches deep in the soil or in areas the snail feel has the right condition and then left without further care till it hatches. That won't be proper in their new environment since the activities would perhaps damage the eggs and also, I need to take account of what's what.
I had just one hutch, so the incubation was done in perforated and transparent plastic wares. About 1 inch of soil, the eggs and another layer of soil to cover it up slightly was added in the container, covered and kept aside. The soil is being checked twice a week to be sure the humidity level is good enough. Last image in this post shows my first attempt at incubating. Those 8 eggs are now 25 days, and should hatch in less than 2 weeks now if the conditions were good enough. If it goes otherwise, I would take it as a learning process and work on improving.
Watchful Actions ...๐
The first two weeks had me watching their every actions like a vigilante. I just had to satisfy a lot of my curious intents. How do they eat something as strong as unripe pawpaw fruits? Where does their excreta comes through? How do they mate (read about love darts and needed to see in live action)? Where do the eggs gets out of them? and so much more.
Seeing, they say, is believing. They are really cool creatures and the time I spend with them has always been worthwhile.

Hehe the title though ๐ you have come again with these sumptuous looking snails that you have decided to keep for just staring ๐๐
Less than two days? That's quick but it takes a long time to hatch them... I guess that makes sense.
I glided and almost fell on your snails by the way ๐๐
Oh no! Thank God for brakes, wouldn't want those shells broken ๐.
Yes, they do take a long time to hatch, ๐ข between 28 to 40 days I think. Make I dey wait like patient dog... ๐
Hahaha and automatically, I'll be waiting like patient dog too since I want to see them when they hatch ๐
Snail eggs! I would've never thought. They look so cool hahahah
now I wanna see they grow!!!!
Wow! Then we have to watch them together for months to come. ...๐
Yes! A time lapse would be epic
Wow you are doing a great job in bringing up the snails and getting their eggs and taking care of them.
Believe me I didn't know that snails give eggs or not, and today I have seen first time snails are giving eggs.
Thanks for sharing.

The video of the snail laying eggs is amazing! I'm really learning a lot about snails from you, @mcyusuf.
I can't believe someone beat @samsmith1971 again to the Boost! Hehehehe! Still, it does show you are a very popular guy and everyone wants to boost your posts. So good for you. ๐
I wish I was/am popular. People do not even know me on the streets. See me as a weird introvert that stays indoors 15/7.
Well, I'm also trying to learn about snails. Still so much knowledge hidden all across the universe that needs to be tapped.
Hey, you are very popular! It's just you're popular with the other weird introverts that stay indoors. Hehehehe!
I'm sure you'll find all that hidden knowledge across the universe and then share it with us, here. ๐
