Hello Hive Family and most especially my homestead community. I hope that we are all making progress with our various endeavors and taking time to rest too. Hopefully all of this hard working sessions will be over and we will relax to enjoy all of the seeds we have grown during the bigger holiday and celebration times in December.

Have you seen a bambaranut plant before?

I always look forward to December because by then the labour of farming will be over and we will have some food in our barns to feast on. It is usually a delight to see different kinds of grains and be able to select different kind of food to eat per day. Our labour of today is not in vain and it is usually a joyful thing when the harvest paid off.

Yesterday we continued with further work on our rice farm which is more of the transplanting of rice. And we have continued with that using every little seedling we find available. There is not much to say about that and I wouldn't want to bore us with more of that update.

For today I was delighted to see a friend's bambaranut farm here and kinda imagined how he was able to navigate the unfavorable weather to grow this.

He has planted his seeds much earlier in the month of June before the rains ceased in July. The proper planting for bambaranut has always been in the month of July for us as late mum has done and always told me.

My heart was set on that timing hence I had waited for July in order to plant my seeds but when July came the weather was not favorable since there was not a single drop of water to water the ground for seed planting. The whole of July passed and even when I attempted planting it, none of my seeds germinated.

It's a good thing that I had replaced that part with beans even though it was my wish to grow some of this nut.

The major concern for today that has drawn my attention to this farm is this unfamiliar withering disease of the leaves we are seeing here.
I don't know if anyone has grown bambara nuts and experience this before. Even though the plant has grown and spread out very well it is noticable that a disease is causing the leaves to wither. I'm not sure if this should be a major concern or it is normal.

The bambaranut has past it first and second flowering stage and any moment from now we will begin to see fruits underneath it.
I am not quite vaste with the knowledge of growing bambaranut compared to other crops and this is a new to me including the owner of the farm .
Hopefully this won't spread further to affect the entire farm because of it spreads further and causes more leaves to wither it might affect the crops, we all are now looking out and observing this.

Would it be weird if we say this is our first contact with Bambaranut? Like you, we don't have any experience with this particular crop and we apologize for not being able to offer any useful suggestions. You can Google some of the questions you have. We hope you'll find the help that you need and your crops will do well.
