Hello Hive
Happy new day, dearly beloved community and passionate friends of homesteading. I trust that we are strong in health and making progress in our endeavors.
Guess what?
It's another harvest day, and harvests are usually a sweet moment. I am often excited to harvest virtually anything, be it vegetables or staples. Everything we plant is useful to us, and at harvest we enjoy the fruits of our labor.
We harvest grains for food and vegetables for soup, but yesterday we harvested some hibiscus, or roselle, to make some special drinks.
I and my sister love taking the drink we often prepare using the roselle plant. I have observed that whenever I suffer from a sleepless night, this is one of the drinks that helps me to relax and sleep. I'm not sure if we have other people who are aware of this, but this particular roselle is good for sleep disorders.
Another benefit of the roselle is that it is useful for digestive discomforts and weight management. It has been utilized to burn our body fat whenever someone chose to go on a diet to lose weight.
It is very easy to prepare this drink, and all we need to do is boil the leaves in the company of some pineapple, ginger, and other flavoring agents as we desire. Once this is properly boiled, we then allow it to cook off, filter it out, and get it refrigerated. Once this is done, we have a chilled and highly useful drink🍷 🍷🍷. Roselle consists of two different species.
While this species bears those red fruits for making roselle drink, the other species bears a white fruit, which we often enjoy as soup. That species is used purely for making soup.
While we have planted different species of veggies, we were lucky to have this one germinate and grow by itself. Sometimes we intentionally plant enough seeds of this, while at other times they grow as wild crops in our farm. This is most likely seeds that fall off from the previous harvest and that remain dormant in the soil until the next harvest. I quickly picked this up and took it home for use.
Neighbors often do not allow us to rest, as they usually come begging to harvest this from our farms. This is to show that as many people as possible have also found some beneficial use for this, and people don't hesitate to come for harvest whenever there is mature roselle in sight like this.
Ahhhh
So you plant, grow and harvest this rosella too.
Wow
Impressive 🥰
