Farming can really be challenging in various ways especially when you lack adequate resources to take care of things. It is one thing to farm and see the crops to maturity. And it is yet another challenge to properly process and store your harvested grains and keep them safe until use.
We actually decided not to sell our bags of corn yet hoping to store them and make extra gain later since this is meant for commercial purpose and we must maximize every means to earn more from this especially with the quest to meet up with our capital. Aside having to take care of things we have just recently noticed some issues with the corn
The corn is storage is begining to rust from different direction. We have just noticed this damaging effect on some portion of the corn. The corns are not peoperly dried and this is because there is usually no adequate Sunshine at this time to dry the corns. After shelling it we decided not to bag them in protective sacs meant to keep away weevil it believing that it will get rust in the bags since they aren't dried.
The decision we took was to dry them on the open floor until the latter end of the year when we would have enough solar energy to redry them before final storage. This was done and we all relaxed hoping that everything was fine and in order.
Now the corns are beginning to rust from the moisture content in the environment and it seems like the tiled floor are getting even more cooler than normal. No one will be willing to purchase rusted corns and you can imagine how much loss this can incur if this situation is not arrested immediately.
Since we lacked adequate sun to dry them yet we have hence resorted to turning them daily to permit aeration and reduce mould formation and I hope that this will hold up for us until we are able to take the final lasting solution of sun-drying
Is it true that some advanced farmers use UV radiation to dry their grains
How true can this be
And how safe, having heard of it awhile ago I want to ask if anyone here has an idea
Sincerely farming doesn't end just after harvest, there is more work to be done with storage and monitoring of the crops in order for them not to get spoilt.
