Hello Hive
I believe that it is a good idea that my dad is nurturing, trying to grow almost every important tree or plant that is useful for us. He always says that whenever a plant is important to us, it is better we grow such and have it handy rather than always looking for its wild species from the forest the time we are in need of such a plant.
It is from him that I have gotten the inspiration to go into plantation farming. I have seen a lot of trees that will be beneficial to us both as food, as medicinal trees, and as cash crops.
I am more than surprised to see a cotton wool tree for the very first time. This has been grown for its medicinal importance. It is often cooked alongside some other plant and tree back to treat fever conditions, headaches, and the feeling of nausea.
The herbal doctor had often added this to my mom's herbal drugs whenever he gave her the herbs for treating typhoid fever too. This, in the company of lemongrass and other roots, has often been the best bet.
Even though I have often advised neighbors and friends against the direct use of these herbal medicines and concoctions due to toxicity. It is a good thing that these herbs have these potentials, but the better part of them can be chemically harvested to make modern drugs for us. But guess what, a lot of my communists here still prefer their herbal drugs instead of the modern ones.
Yesterday we went to plug some cotton wool leaves to prepare some herbs, but we forgot that this is the dry season; the leaves have all dried away, but it has produced a good number of clean and useful cotton wool that are already getting dusty due to the dry and dusty weather.
I was really amazed and stood by watching how this tree produces this cotton wool. I plucked a few, which, of course, you know are useful for cleaning wounds and other purposes. We ladies use it for makeup and other cleaning and disinfection purposes. I equally didn't know that this tree is equally an easy one to grow.
Next time we prepare a herbal concoction, I will show us how exactly that looks. I have equally taken a lot of herbal concoctions while growing up as a child. My late mom was in search of the cure for sickle cell and didn't hesitate to give me any concoction that was suggested to her that would be of assistance to my health.
