Hello Hive
It was quite a sad scene when we passed by these veggies this morning only to see that the vegetables are withering away. Lack of proper knowledge has been the reason for this loss.
Natural I do not expect that chemicals would be used in growing these vegetables. Vegetables are so tender and have a short life span before we begin consumption. For the sake of human health, I would prefer that our veggies be grown without the use of chemicals for weed control.
Unlike other plants like grains with pods, where you peel the pods before eating in most cases, the seeds we eat are often protected from direct chemical sprays.
For vegetables, the chemicals are sprayed directly on the leaves, as it is impossible to carry out a chemical control on weeds and totally omit the vegetables. Some farmers are so careless about the fact that they can spray their veggies today and end up harvesting the same veggies for food in the next week.
For health reasons, it is advisable to avoid the use of chemicals on vegetables, most especially if we will be consuming such veggies in the shortest possible time.
During the dry seasons, plants find it difficult to survive chemical application. The rains often serve as a diluter for chemicals in plant leaves. After spraying a farm, the chemicals work on the weeds to destroy them while they get dissolved in our plant (veggies roots) without causing much harm to the plant, which soon recuperates.
You can see the drastic negative effect of chemicals on this plant and veggies. We sprayed the farm last weekend as there was no time or energy to weed the riverbank-grown veggies, and within just a few days, everything withered away. There is no rain to minimize the effect of the chemical on the crop.
Here is one chemical that ought to selective destroy weeds alone but even the veggies and corn planted are withering away.
This is where we have to be mindful of the veggies we purchase from the market they can add chemical growth enhancer and other chemicals to make these veggies fresh and all of this without been diluted by enough rains gets into our system
Let's be mindful of whatever we eat out there.
