Hello Hive
Poultry farming is another aspect of farming I have eyed for years, hoping to have my own poultry farm sooner rather than later. It will be of great benefit to me if I am able to manage both food crops alongside animal farming together. Poultry droppings are a good source of organic fertilizer that has been useful to my farm for years now.
Sometimes we get a good quantity of poultry droppings to spread in our rice fields before planting.
When you have a poultry farm, it will be a good source of animal proteins for the family. My family has had so many food proteins from soybeans, peas, and beans to eat. The majority of the time, animal proteins such as meat, eggs, and fish are totally lacking from our meals.
Food proteins are much cheaper than animal proteins, and if you want to eat some meat to your satisfaction, it is better you raise some birds by yourself.
Raising birds isn't such a tedious task if we have the right resources. A well-built standard birdcage will have some net wiring beneath the birds feet; this will constantly separate their droppings out of the cage and get them together below the cage. While the birds feed from their feeders/trough.
Feeding the birds isn't such a hard task. All that is required is to learn about the best kind of meal combinations for each bird species type.
In this compound here you can find both the local chicken 🐔, duck fowl 🪿, turkey 🦃, and guinea fowl. I doubt if as many people here recognize the different types of birds we have. For some reason, I don't eat duck fowl; I consider it a dirty animal, and I have never tasted guinea fowl before, even though I have seen a lot of people eat that bird.
I have grown up eating only a few species of birds restricted to the ordinary chicken; hence, I find it a little difficult to eat another species of birds.
This is what a routine morning looks like in the house here: we wake up first to check on the birds, change their dirty feeds, clean the feeders, and change their drinking water too. This routine is repeated 3-4 times in a day if the birds are newly purchased. Their feeding plates have to be kept thoroughly clean in order to prevent an infection that will cause massive fatality in the birds if they get sick.
For his morning, I am engaged in the various activities of taking care of these birds. Both the aggressive turkey and the colorful birds are here in their numbers.
I also often use livestock manure for organic fertilizer. you have healthy poultry. Of course you are very diligent in raising them.
Thats good to know. Maybe I will get to see your farm too.
Thanks for coming around.
