Hello Hive
Welcome to another beautiful day on earth. May we continue to thrive and enjoy good health with each passing day.
Yesterday was a tofu day for myself and the children. Ever since I prepared some soya milk for them which they enjoyed so much, the children has been pressing me to prepare some Tofu for them from some of my remaining soya Typically we enjoy almost every meal prepared from soybeans. From the soya milk to this tofu and another soya meal we often prepare, they all love it as much as I do.
Most families use tofu as the meat in their meals; animal proteins are very expensive; a kilogram of chicken is sold for $3 around here, and most families that can't resort to buying meat often purchase tofu to replace the meat in their food.
I can't wait for the day that I will have an animal pen of my own; it will make it easy for us to raise some birds for meat and have a balanced meal of both the animal and plant proteins. I totally understand how eating well can keep away the doctor. Meat and milk and protein-rich meals often build the body, and most times you will get some healthy skin and regular body weight of good health.
I remember the day I was sadly harvesting these soybeans; since the pods have rusted and all the soybeans have gotten rotten, I was walking through the large field picking only what is left that is still good. That was how I ended up with about 3kg of this after long hours of working.
I never thought they would be useful until now, so yesterday I decided to prepare this tofu for the children.
The making process is similar to the process for preparing soya drink. We measure out the quantity
Peel it in the mortar and have it ground at the mill. Next, I filter out the shaft.
And then proceed to cook it in a pot. When it is well cooked, I pickup the coagulated tofu and drain it in a mesh cloth
Then proceed to carry out a deep frying in a pot. Any form of sauce can be prepared for eating this by my own part; the children used blended hot chili and salt to eat theirs.
We are all so happy to get some homestead tofu, as everyone got to eat as much as they wanted compared to the little one they often purchase just to enjoy the taste whenever they want to.
So cool that you made tofu from scratch! I didn't know that the bean pods for soy were fuzzy like that. I have seen them dried only, and I guess they lose the fuzz when they dry them.
Currently the price for eggs has gone crazy here, because there is bird flu killing off so many flocks, so supply is limited and prices are double or triple what they used to be not long ago. So everyone was making jokes for Valentine's Day like, "Give her something expensive for Valentine's Day!" and instead of jewelry and chocolates it was eggs. LOL

Wow, that is so funny and unfortunate at the same time. It means that the eggs must be really expensive. Thank you for the top, I really appreciate it.
