Hello Friends

I believe that none of us here would appreciate eating their grains with some insects inside especially weevils. I remember most times as a child when my mum buys beans and brings it to the house to cook especially when the beans is under such conditions, we all find it difficult to swallow a spoon of the beans meal whenever we notice a single weevil insect inside it.

Weevils attack can cause all the beans here to become powder. Stored grains are grounded to powder whenever weevils attack. Any of these stables become non palatable whenever such happens.

It is barely two weeks we have harvested these beans and it's surprising to see these devils inside our crops already.

There are still a few of the beans left that we are still pounding at home to clean them off their pods so that the harvest can all be stored up.

I believe that since these are weevils, thesame weevils chemical we have used for corn both beans and corn. While using these chemicals for storage we have to be very careful of the kind of chemicals we used.

In the past my mum has often used a liquid form of some sort of chemicals which are diluted and robbed on the staples directly. For such kind we often feel afraid to eat the grains even after the purposed expiry dates have passed.
And in some other cases it is advisable to wash the grains in water before consumption.

Here is the latest minimal Hazardous chemicals we can use for staples storage. This exact one is what we have used for our corns earlier.

I like the facts that they are tablets and then you still have to tie them up in pieces of fabrics before inserting in the stored grains. This way the chemical doesn't have direct contact with the corn and only the smell of it keeps weevils away.
Once you purchase an airtight storage sack and pour the grains there in, the chemical tablets are then added at intervals in between the grains.

The expiry date of the chemical is between 3-4month and often written on the bottle of the chemicals.
Paradventure we still don't feel safe eating the grains, it is not a bad idea to wash the grains and dry them again before consumption.

I eat the weevil larvae that come out of acorns and chestnuts... they're pretty delicious 😋
