RE: Checking out and washing my Sweet potato harvest

in Homesteading2 months ago

Wow! This is the first time I've seen a potato like this. The ones we have here are brown on the outside and oval in shape.

We harvest them in the fall. We bury them in the ground at a depth of half a meter and cover them with soil. So they stay here intact. We take them out of the hole when needed.

Do you mean Irish potatoes? These in the picture are sweet potatoes

Yes, Irish potatoes. Thanks for the information.

Irish potatoes

we call them by their color here.. so white potatoes, or red or gold/yellow potatoes. Indeed they are not sweet potatoes.. different plants.

Oh cool, I have grown white, red and gold potatoes. I find them more difficult to grow than the sweet potatoes.

I will keep trying though, this year my non-sweet potatoes did not do well at all from the drought.
