Oops, My Inner Child Did That
I was supposed to be leading the team meeting.
Big presentation. Important slides. Suits. Serious faces.
But five minutes in, as I stood beside the projector, laser pointer in hand, my eyes landed on the massive whiteboard behind me. It was blank. Completely untouched.
And something inside me whispered: “Draw.”
I resisted. I really did.
But before I knew it, my hand was reaching for a marker. While everyone discussed quarterly projections, I was doodling a spaceship. Then aliens. Then a donut-shaped planet with sprinkles.
Laughter broke out. I turned around—my little masterpiece in full view.
Apparently, I’d drawn a battle between a marshmallow and a flying toaster. In full color.
Silence followed. Then my boss, staring at the alien donut, said:
“Is that… a Pop-Tart cannon?”
I swallowed hard. “Yes. It launches strawberry diplomacy.”
Pause.
The room erupted in laughter.
Meeting adjourned.
I got teased all week, nicknamed “Commander Crayon.” But surprisingly, my idea from earlier in the presentation actually got approved.
And the whiteboard? It’s now our official “creative break space.”
Oops. My inner child did that.
And honestly?
You’re welcome.
