In feeding my daughter creativity, strategy, and love are the vitamins
A cordial greeting to the members of the Healthy-bees Community joining the exchange of experiences in a topic of great interest to all, such as the "Promoting Healthy Eating Habits in Children". Childhood is a stage in which the forging of engravings and stamps representative of multiple behaviors predominates, which will condition learned habits and routines, including eating habits. As parents and/or family members, we must be vigilant and raise awareness about the benefits of healthy eating, with special attention to children.
Each one of us carries with us our worldview, distinctive and expressive of our family values, customs, and traditions, where food does not escape this compendium, being a context of expressions that parliament our cultural identity, but what is unhealthy must be modified. I commented in the previous meeting that, during my childhood, there were weaknesses in my nutritional formation and sometimes it was unhealthy. But I made changes in patterns and schemes that redounded favorably to my health.
We are expressions of particularity and specificity, if we refer to food, a subject under discussion, we can share knowledge but never establish unique and rigorous patterns, as magic recipes because they simply do not exist. No food by itself contains all the necessary nutrients, so we must combine them with skill and strategy, conditioned by the needs of each of us, as is also the case with children.

As a physician, I was trained extensively in the contexts of scientific knowledge associated with food, the nutritional contributions of food, and the needs considered by age groups. However, the experience of living it and experiencing it is a trend of the first order. These are examples where practice overcomes theory, or perhaps it is knowledge that is not documented and transits in popular ideology.
My daughter is the architect of the immeasurable event that transmuted my existence, motherhood. She has astutely rooted me in an eternal love that knows no limits, invading me with unprecedented inspiration and vitality, chiseling with her footprints my transformation, making me more tolerable and human. In tune with this, she is my genesis of the most amazing and unexpected experiences, including food.
With my only child, the feeding process has been a new awakening, in an inexhaustible discovery, to grow and learn together, thus building new paths, emphasizing the good of our cultural identity, which we proudly inherited, but at the same time bravely assuming to free ourselves and leave behind what remains and is unhealthy.

Under the specialized guidance of her pediatrician, we began this wonderful feeding journey, full of symbolism and representations. She was exclusively breastfed for the first six months, and I was her exclusive nutrient provider, so my feeding required nutritional awareness to facilitate all her requirements.
At six months, complementary foods to breastfeeding arrived, with the vital priority of teaching her to eat healthily, creating in her energetic and resistant habits to instigations. My wild cards were strategy, creativity, and love, I tell you. I started the process between trial and error, to recognize in her, the acceptance or rebound, of a certain nutrient. In the beginning, each food was exhibited individually, and sometimes in different forms of presentation and states, when I identified its rejection, I tried to combine it with another already accepted to determine if it was a viable combination, or substitutions for other foods with similar caloric intake.

With mom's magic, in all its expression, came the primal interaction with vegetables and fruits: porridge and fruit pieces in colorful and attractively patterned bowls, fruits cut in the shape of animals, vegetable pancakes in the shape of a tree, many times my cookie cutters cast their spell.
Over the years, formal education was introduced, we selected an educational institution according to our criteria, where parents were integrated into healthy sharing and creative idea contests, in addition to other elements of healthy lifestyles. It was not in my acceptance, to use the reward-punishment, I considered that it could generate conditioning, and I preferred to give him the freedom to give his opinion and express his reasons, why not, or why yes to a certain food.

I am aware that we do not live in isolation, nor a bubble, we flow in the dynamism of daily life being actively bombarded by the fierce market skills, but with strategy and dissimulation, the unhealthy I try to keep it in its punctual specificity, without giving opportunity to routines, only in special celebrations, birthdays, sharing with friends and accidental occasions that we both decide so.
My daughter is my faithful companion and actively participates in her way and according to what she can contribute, in the selection and preparation of food, raising awareness of the moderate use of sugar and salt. We like to buy most of our food at popular markets, for several reasons: they are fresher because of their primary access and we support local production. The rewards we get shine in their virtues with hearty, nutritious, and flavorful preparations, fewer chemicals to our body and we strengthen our economy.

Let us not forget that healthy eating in general and in children, in particular, will be the roots for the sustenance of health in adulthood, with all its benefits especially associated with the strengthening of the immune system, necessary as a workhorse to protect us from infectious agents, with which we interact frequently and in turn healthy eating will greatly delay in time, the onset of pathologies imprinted in our family history.
Let us facilitate the way to our doctor and/or a child nutritionist, let us not be inhibited in expressing all our doubts and if it does not please us, we simply look for another physician, who gives us confidence and acceptance. Because our child's nutrition is our responsibility and it is vital for his life.
Let us also keep in mind that we are the mirror for our children or minors of the family group, we cannot make them aware of healthy habits if we do not practice them or do not comply with them. Let's negotiate temporary and punctual conditions, this way we will generate balance, and finally let's make feeding our children a fun and pleasant process for everyone, never as a sanction.

Cordiales saludos a los miembros de la Comunidad Healthy-bees sumándome al intercambio de experiencias en un tópico de gran interés para todos, como lo es la “Promoción de hábitos alimentarios saludables en los niños”. La infancia es una etapa de vida en la que predomina la forja de grabados y sellos, representativos de múltiples conductas, que condicionarán hábitos y rutinas aprendidas, entre ellas las alimentarias. Como padres y/o miembros integrantes de una familia, debemos estar atentos y concienciar, sobre los beneficios de una alimentación saludable, con especial atención la de los más pequeños.
Cada uno de nosotros, lleva consigo su cosmovisión, distintiva y expresiva de sus valores familiares, costumbres, tradiciones, donde la alimentación no escapa a este compendio, siendo un contexto de expresiones que parlamenta nuestra identidad cultural, pero lo que no sea saludable debe ser modificado. Comenté en el encuentro anterior, que, durante mi infancia, hubo debilidades en mi formación nutricional y a veces era poco saludable. Pero hice cambios en patrones y esquemas que redundaron favorablemente en mi salud.
Somos expresión de particularidad y especificidad, si nos referimos a la alimentación, tema en discusión, podemos compartir saberes, pero jamás establecer patrones únicos y rigurosos, como recetas mágicas, porque sencillamente no existen. Ningún alimento contiene por sí mismo todos los nutrientes necesarios, por lo que debemos combinarlos con habilidad y estrategia, condicionados por las necesidades de cada uno de nosotros, así ocurre también con los niños.

Como médico, me formé ampliamente en los contextos de la cientificidad asociada a los alimentos, sus aportes nutricionales y requerimientos por grupos etarios. Sin embargo, la experiencia de vivirlo y experimentarlo, es una tendencia de primer orden. Son ejemplificaciones en los que la práctica supera a la teoría, o tal vez se trate de saberes que no están documentados y transitan en el ideario popular.
Mi hija es el artífice del inconmensurable acontecimiento que transmutó mi existencia, la maternidad. Me ha enraizado, astutamente, en un amor imperecedero que no conoce límites, invadiéndome con ello de una inspiración y vitalidad sin precedentes, cincelando con sus huellas mi transformación, haciéndome más transigente y humana. En sintonía con esto, ella es mi génesis de las experiencias más asombrosas e inesperadas, entre ellas la alimentación.
Con mi unigénita, el proceso de la alimentación ha sido un nuevo despertar, en un inagotable descubrir, para crecer y aprender juntas, construyendo así nuevos senderos, acentuando lo bueno de nuestra identidad cultural, que orgullosamente heredamos, pero al mismo tiempo asumiendo con valentía el liberarnos y dejar atrás lo que resta y no es saludable.

Bajo la orientación especializada de su pediatra iniciamos juntas este maravilloso viaje alimentario, lleno de simbolismos y representaciones. Durante los seis primeros meses fue alimentada exclusivamente con leche materna, y yo su proveedor exclusivo de nutrientes, por lo que mi alimentación requirió una conciencia nutricional que facilitara todos sus requerimientos.
A los seis meses, llegaron los alimentos complementarios a la lactancia, con la prioridad vital de enseñarle a comer de forma saludable, creando en ella hábitos enérgicos y resistentes a las instigaciones. Mis comodines fueron la estrategia, la creatividad y el amor. Inicié el proceso entre el ensayo y el error, para reconocer en ella, la aceptación o rebote, de determinado nutrimento. Al principio cada alimento fue exhibido individualmente, y en ocasiones en diferentes formas de presentación y estados. Cuando identificaba su rechazo, trataba de combinarlo con otro ya aceptado, para precisar si eran viables las combinaciones, o sustituciones por otros alimentos con similar aporte calórico.

Así, con la magia de mamá en toda su expresión, surgió la primigenia interacción con verduras y frutas: papillas y trozos de fruta en tazones de colores y atractivos dibujos, frutas cortadas en formas de animales, tortitas de verduras en forma de árbol, muchas veces mis cortadores de galletas lanzaron su hechizo.
Pasaron los años e hizo su entrada a la educación formal, seleccionamos una institución educativa acorde a nuestros criterios, donde nos integrábamos como padres al compartir saludable y a concursos de ideas creativas, además de otros elementos constituyentes de estilos de vida saludables. No estuvo en mi aceptación, utilizar el premio-castigo, consideré que podría generar condicionamientos y preferí darle la libertad de opinar y manifestar sus razones, por qué no o por qué si ha determinado alimento o preparación.

Soy consciente de que no vivimos en aislamiento, ni en una burbuja, fluimos en el dinamismo de una cotidianeidad, siendo activamente bombardeados por las feroces habilidades del mercado, pero con estrategia y disimulo, lo poco saludable trato de mantenerlo en su puntual especificidad, sin dar oportunidad a las rutinas, solo en celebraciones especiales, cumpleaños, compartir con amigos y en ocasiones accidentales que ambas así lo decidimos.
Mi hija es mi acompañante fiel y participa activamente a su manera y según lo que puede contribuir, en selección y preparación de los alimentos, concienciando el uso comedido de la azúcar y la sal. Nos agrada comprar la mayoría de nuestros alimentos en mercados populares, por diversas razones: son más frescos por su acceso primario y apoyamos la producción local. La recompensa que obtenemos brillan en sus virtudes con preparaciones sustanciosas, nutritivas y llenas de sabor, menos productos químicos a nuestro organismo y fortalecemos nuestra economía.

No olvidemos que la alimentación saludable en general y en los niños, en particular, serán las raíces para el sostenimiento de la salud en la edad adulta, con todos sus beneficios especialmente asociados al fortalecimiento del sistema inmunológico, necesario como caballito de batalla para protegernos de los agentes infecciosos, con los que interactuamos frecuentemente y a su vez la alimentación saludable retrasará en gran medida en el tiempo, la aparición de patologías impresas en nuestra historia familiar.
Facilitemos el camino a nuestro médico y/o nutricionista infantil, no nos cohibamos en expresar todas nuestras dudas y si no nos agrada, simplemente busquemos otro médico, que nos brinde confianza y aceptación. Porque la alimentación de nuestro hijo es nuestra responsabilidad y es vital para su vida.
Tengamos presente que somos el espejo de nuestros hijos o menores del grupo familiar, no podemos concientizarlos de hábitos saludables si nosotros no los practicamos o no los cumplimos. Negociemos condiciones temporales y puntuales, así generaremos equilibrio y finalmente hagamos de la alimentación de nuestros hijos un proceso divertido y agradable para todos, nunca como una sanción.
