The year 2022 was a difficult chapter in my life. I was working in a company and most of my shifts were at night because I was a bachelor and I lived there alone. So when I went to my room in the morning, I couldn't sleep. I would stay up late and sleep for 1-2 hours, but I didn't get any complete sleep. When I went to work at night, I had a severe headache in my eyes, my mind was also extremely tired, and it became difficult to concentrate during work.
This continued for several months and the headache and some other problems kept increasing and at that time a colleague of mine came and told me the name of a medicine and said that by taking this medicine, your sleep problem will be a little better and the headache will reduce. At that time, my condition was so bad that I believed him and started taking the medicine. Initially, I got some relief. My sleep started to improve, albeit a little, and the headache also became lighter.
But as if a new problem started amidst that relief, within a few weeks, the side effects of the medicine gradually started to become clear. I started to have a slight tremor in my hands, and I also started to lose clarity in speaking. In addition, I developed digestive problems, constipation, and unusual body aches. The daily stress of work and the side effects of the medication combined to make me physically and mentally weaker.
The scariest moment came one afternoon when I suddenly fainted in the middle of my office work. My colleagues took me to the hospital. The doctor examined me and said that my condition was so bad that I had almost reached a state of jaundice. At that moment, I realized that my self-medication habit was not only giving me temporary relief but was also slowly pushing my body towards destruction.
The few days spent in the hospital taught me that no small problem regarding one's health should be ignored. I realized how important it is to seek professional medical advice before taking medication. This experience was a hard lesson for me. I realized that taking medication on my own due to fatigue or lack of sleep can lead to greater dangers in the long run.
Today, I am sharing this story so that no one else makes the same mistake as me. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of life, our well-being is of utmost importance. If you are having trouble sleeping or any other problem, don't be tempted to take medication on your own. Instead, it is wise to seek the advice of a good doctor. Hopefully, my story will alert you and help you prioritize the importance of well-being in your life.
Rest is very important for us as individuals. As they say, you can’t cheat nature. Your body needs enough rest and so instead of taking drugs for the headache, you should have had more rest.
I’m glad you’re well now and have learnt your lesson. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
