The healthcare system of my Country - Some suggestions about innovation and improvement.

Although it might sound crazy if I say, we have a *no-too-bad healthcare system as a citizen of a so-called Third World Country. But believe me, it's true.

The best thing about our system is it's accessible to all and very cheap. By saying so I mean, just by spending $.10 you can see a specialized Doctor in a Public Hospital!

I'm from Bangladesh, and we have a few big Public Hospitals and many private ones. Healthcare has become a business in the past few decades, and my country is no exception. But we still access basic care.

Although it has many good sides, we can't avoid the lack. For example, the 'tests' are mostly not available to public hospitals but we have to go to the private clinic. And they charge huge for that.

The seats in emergency care, ICU, NICU, CCU, etc are also inadequate . And to access those services in the private sector, the costs are unimaginable.

On the other hand, the health care providers are very helpful, mostly. There are some exceptions though. They charge high in private places but the system requires them to give almost free labor mandatory in the public sector. So it's a win-win for who can access what.

.

If I summarize some solutions from my perspectives, they would be:

  • Improving community healthcare services: Although there's a system, because of the lack of better lifestyle accessibility no one wants to serve in the rural areas. Many programs are going on but they need to improve, the healthcare providers need better facilities so they can serve the community better.

  • Expansion of Tele/Online services: Not all the patients need to see the doctors in person, visit from the rural areas to the cities, and spend thousands for simple fever and all. Although there are a few apps/programs that running right now but people still don't trust them and the accessibility rate is around only 1-2%.

  • Public and Private Sector needs to work together: There is an invisible competition to take away the patients from the public sector and make money from them in the private clinics. This needs to stop and both of the sectors should come to a solution, and work together to better manage the system so we can be benefits not work as a money machine to them.

  • Financing: The Public sector runs on the Government subsidiary. But if different private pharma and others come to finance in the public health then it would be better for all of us. We don't have any established Government Health Insurance Program. If they introduce that, it would cost us less as a whole.

.

In a populated country like ours, it's very difficult to ensure a good healthcare system that provides for all. The upper class has no problem affording but we need something basic and well-assessable for the general population.

If we can ensure some of this innovation and gradually improve our system then I bet the health sector would serve and save many.

I hope these will happen sooner or later.

Great insights on Bangladesh’s healthcare system! Your suggestions for improving community healthcare, expanding telemedicine, fostering public-private collaboration, and securing better financing are key to creating a more accessible and efficient system. Well done!

I believe so. It's slowly moving forward but we need more effort.

That is okay.
