Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. A couple of days ago, I made a post about Hansi Flick putting Szczesny as the number one goalkeeper of the team, which was kind of sudden because Inaki Pena was doing fan on the pitch as well, but Hansi Flick has made his decision on who he wants at the goalpost as a starter regularly for the squad. It has gotten a little heated in the Barcelona dressing room as reported from a reliable source that Inaki Pena and Hansi Flick had a heated conversation as Inaki Pena demands reasons for being dropped as the number one goalkeeper.
It was an argument that lasted for a while and didn't end on good terms which I think will cause a problem later on between Hansi Flick and Inaki Pena as I see that manager and player relationship go down the drain. In the heated conversation, Hansi Flick pointed out Inaki Pena's lateness to training as one of the kick factors in being dropped from being the number one goalkeeper of the team. Hansi Flick is a disciplined coach, and I get it was a punishment at first, but I think he dragged it too long, which resulted in his decision.
Inaki Pena has been patient for a long time with his position as the second goalkeeper to Ter Stegen. The La Masia graduate was sent on loan two seasons ago to Galatasaray, where he gave an incredible performance against Barcelona, which made the club bring him back from loan to become next in line after Ter Stegen. Inaki Pena is not all that great, but he has shown his quality and willingness to improve his play, which is something I like about the Spanish goalkeeper.
There was also a report from a reliable source that Inaki Pena is now thinking of his future at the club, which means he is thinking of leaving Barcelona and now the club is considering extending Szczesny's contract to one more year but will first look at his performance for the remaining part of the season. Szczesny has not been all that great with his recent performance and I don't know what Hansi Flick sees that he decided to give Szczesny the number, but I am looking forward to seeing how this will work in the coming months.
Inaki Pena could likely leave in the summer if things don't change between him and Hansi Flick. The Spanish goalkeeper has been dropped for even the smallest matches in the competition, including the Champions League. Inaki Pena is young and I am sure he will continue to improve his abilities soon because he has not reached his peak yet in his professional career. It is going to be one tough ride and I am in for all the actions. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and I will be dropping a post about the Madrid Derby tomorrow, so then have a good day.
