It was an incredible match even from the highlights. I could tell the match hit an incredible climax. There is no denying the fact that there was individual brilliance in that match, which is where it's heading and one of the players who deserves huge credit in that match is Pedri.
It is not a fluke nor a joke that Pedri is miles ahead of any midfielder in football today and I will say this over again and stand on it because the stunt Pedri pulled against Benfica was incredible to match and I will say this if you want to know what truly defines a midfielder then you must go and watch Pedri play football because that young man is the embodiment of what a pure midfielder is supposed to do on the pitch even without scoring goals since it is the basis now some fanbase use to rate a midfielder on the pitch.
Pedri ghosted against Benfica because all I could see from the Pedri highlight against Benfica was Andres Iniesta playing on the pitch. Barcelona has a generational talent in the club, and it would be unreasonable to let such a player leave the club. According to Fabrizio Romano Pedri, contract renewal is already in process as the club is working on the final steps to extend the Spanish midfielder's time at the club. When Pedri was asked about his contract renewal, he said that it is between his agents and the club, plus he is not worried about any time as he is confident the renewal will happen when all documents and negotiations have been concluded.
There should be more news about Pedri, Gavi, and Lamine Yamal's new contracts soon, as the club has already extended Ronald Araujo's contract to 2031. Also, Gerard Martin was given a renewal today, so it won't take long before the remaining three players mentioned above contract are prepared. It is astonishing to see Pedri play on the field and I can remember last year when I wrote a post about the comparison between Pedri and Bellingham that once Barcelona gets a fully fit Pedri you all see the best of the Spanish midfielder and it happening before our very eyes even though some fanbase is still finding it hard to accept the fact.
Pedri will always be clear in the comparison against Bellingham because Pedri offers more on the pitch even without scoring goals. There is this calmness and quality Pedri brings to the midfield, plus it is hard to see Pedri get dispossessed when the ball is on his feet; he is just incredible to watch.
