It's Tuesday, and in a couple of hours, the second leg of the Uefa Champions League will kick off. Today, FC Barcelona will be going head to head with Dortmund away from home, while on the other side, Aston Villa will be hosting PSG at their home stadium this night. Football can be crazy sometimes as what you expected to happen in a match might not be the case after the full 90 minutes played. I will give some thought to these two matches that will be played this evening as we gear up for the semifinals of the competition.
FC Barcelona won 4-0 at home against Dortmund. It was a total domination by Barcelona, which I find impressive as this team has shown they are favourites to win the competition this season. Tonight's match will be the third time both teams have faced each other in the competition, and honestly, I don't see Dortmund making any kind of comeback from that four-goal lead FC Barcelona has over the German club. Dortmund are a solid team, and I was expecting them to put up a fight as they did in the league faze when they met Barcelona, but it didn't go well for the German club as Barcelona was a handful for Dortmund.
Barcelona, under Hansi Flick, have become unstoppable, plus they are still yet to lose a match in 2025, which is a crazy record they are setting this season. Barcelona are 100% going through to the next round of the competition without a doubt, as there is no way they are going to bottle that four-goal league, not under Hansi Flick and the present form the squad has this season. Barcelona can seal the game early in the first half to curse Dortmund's hopes of making a comeback, but let's see how it goes when they face later this evening.
The second match that will be played this evening will be between Aston Villa and PSG. Villa reached this stage of the competition surprisingly, and I won't say they had an easy part to this stage because if they were not good, they made it this far into the competition. PSG, on the other hand, are running riot in Ligue 1 as they are yet to lose a match in the league and are already Ligue 1 champions as of last week. PSG won 3-1 at home last week, so tonight they have to complete the mission at Villa's Park this night.
Aston Villa should not be written off yet as I think they can get themselves back into the game. They have been decent this season and could also make the top four in the Premier League by the end of the season so I see why they can't stage a comeback against PSG, but if I am to judge based on current form I would say PSG will work out of Villa Park with a win tonight. I will be looking forward to this match specifically and may the best team win. So, guys, this is where I drop my pen for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
