Before we explore the event, let’s take a recall and look at how this school become the Cebu Technological University - Daanbantayan Campus.
History Time!
It all started on March 3, 1948, when the Manuel A. Roxas School of Fisheries was established.
Few years later, the institution changed its current location in Agujo, Daanbantayan, and in the year 1952, the Bureau of Fisheries took over its supervision. Over time, it grew and developed which offers both secondary and post-secondary programs.
Later on it was approved on June 10, 1983 where it integrated the school into the Cebu State College of Science and Technology (CSCST) System.
As we honor 77 years of academic excellence, resilience, and transformation, we celebrate the journey that began as Manuel Roxas School of Fisheries and flourished into Cebu Technological University Daanbantayan Campus (CTU-DB). We are about to commemorate the 77th Founding Anniversary here at CTU-Daanbantayan Campus.
There are a lot of upcoming activities that will surely bring enjoyment, excitement which all students are looking forward to. This will gonna be fun and new experience and an opportunity for us to take a break from our academics.
As part of the 77th Founding Anniversary celebration, NSTP students participated in the Campus Clean-Up Drive (CWTS and LTS) and the Coastal Clean-Up at Aroma Beach (ROTC).
This activity is not only for first-year students but is mandated for all students to take part in. Everyone worked together to collect trash. Since there weren’t many plastic wastes, we focused on picking up fallen leaves from the ground.
Some of my classmates was in charge to clean our classroom, while others are swepping, mopping, wiping the windows, and others are segregating waste.
After that we directly proceed to the gymnasium for the mass. All Roman Catholics gathered to express gratitude, seek blessings, and guidance among students, faculty, and staff.
The mass also served as a moment to acknowledge the university’s achievements, and pray for continued success and guidance in the long run.
Overall, I’m glad that I was able to contribute to nature, even in small ways, and that I had the opportunity to attend the mass since it had been a long time. After a half day of activities, everyone began preparing for the upcoming events, including the participants of the various games scheduled for the following days.
