To Hydrolyze is like Tea, or a Solution with Water as the Solvent.
hy·dro·lyze
/ˈhīdrəˌlīz/
verbCHEMISTRY
past tense: hydrolyzed;
break down (a compound) by chemical reaction with water. "bile acids were hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions" undergo chemical breakdown due to reaction with water.
"CMA can easily hydrolyze into free acetic acid"
Hydrolates or Hydrsols are Distillate, like the Liquor of the Plant:
"Herbal distillates, also known as floral waters, hydrosols, hydrolates, herbal waters, and essential waters, are aqueous products of hydrodistillation."

Many Essential Oil mixtures are Ethanol or Isopropyl Alcohol Extractions, these then can be used to make Standardized Extraction Material with Ratio Based Measurements, 1:10 being called like 10x, and this being something like 10 grams of plant material Extracted and Dried on 1g of plant Material. This is called Concrete and can best be seen in Hashish, as in Moroccan Hash, or Separators Funnel Extractions as in Dr. Atomic's Marijuana Multiplier, called that because the last step of his extraction is to rotate the Molecules (Isomerize) and make all the CBD into THC, so that you can actually put it back on the plant material and it is stronger than when you started.
Absolute is a Cleaner more Pure Material, this is made either by Separatory Funnel and full separation as in the Dr. Atomic Method, which creates what are called Reagent Grade materials, sometimes a higher standard than Food Grade, but not interchangable as sometimes Reagent Grade is unsafe for Ingestion as it is too Pure for Food. This can also be done by Distillation, as in a Still for making Liquors or Moonshine, this technique is further refined through Fractal Distillation where you learn the Boiling Points of all Compounds in the Plant, and then Boil Fractions of Extract or Water away collecting each Fraction knowing the Material you hit the Boiling Point of will be in each receptical. Distillate is what Rose Otto is, it is called Absolute.
We use Distillates in our Soap.
