Tiger Woods is "just not prepared" to play the following week's Players Championship in Florida, he said on Friday of his choice to avoid the renowned $15 million occasion because of a back issue.
The difficulty, scarcely a month prior to the Masters, definitely raises worries about whether he will be truly prepared to safeguard his title at Augusta National.
"It was anything but a simple choice," Woods said in a Twitter post of avoiding the Players.
"I need to tune in to my body and appropriately rest when required. My back is basically just not prepared for play one week from now. I'm dismal to miss perhaps the best occasion of the period, OUR Championship."
Previous world number one Woods has not contended since the Genesis Invitational at Riviera in mid-February, where he completed last among the individuals who made the cut and whined of back solidness.
Woods at that point avoided the WGC-Mexico Championship, Honda Classic and the current week's Arnold Palmer Invitational.
