Asia's stock markets were hammered on Friday as panic gripping world financial marketsdeepened and even safe-haven assets such as gold and bonds were ditched to cover losses in the wipeout triggered by fears of the economic losses caused by the spreading coronavirus pandemic.

Japan's Nikkei plunged 10 percent while Australia's benchmark fell as much as 7 percent and is on track for its worst week on record.
