Overcoming Self Sabotage - QC Prompt #75

in QC Community9 months ago

I personally think self-sabotage could be defined as conscious or unconscious behaviors or actions that can undermine one's wellbeing, goals, or success, and this most often than not comes in forms like ideas, thought patterns, or actions that lead to mostly unfavorable outcomes. Some of those examples are procrastination, fears, past experiences, low self-esteem, etc.

Life can mostly be an unpredictable journey that's filled with ups and downs. There are moments where we soar higher and are filled with the warmth of joy and success, and there are other days when we find ourselves going through a depth of hopelessness and uncertainty.

There are times I find myself self-sabotaging, not because I want to, but because it mostly happens unconsciously. I get tired and weary mostly when I am unable to achieve a particular goal. While there are times I procrastinate on achieving some things, either due to laziness or past experiences,.

Sometime last year, I set a lot of goals for myself, but towards the month of October, I realized I had not achieved most of them. I was discouraged, and a lot of negative thoughts kept running through my mind. I was discouraged and sad, and it affected my mood negatively. It was easy for someone who doesn't know me to look at me and immensely know that something was wrong with me.

I know somehow most people have also unconsciously found themselves self-sabotaging, but I think there are a few things we can do to help ourselves, which is

Setting realistic goals: For me this year, I refuse to be put under unnecessary pressure, so I break down my goals into smaller and more achievable steps and also set a realistic timeline.

learn from past experiences: because I am concerned about my well-being and have learned from my past experiences, I am seeing my failures as opportunities for growth and relearning and am using them to improve my future decisions and actions.

Be consistent: Try as much as possible to be consistent with improving yourself, though overcoming self-sabotage takes time and effort. Try to be patient with yourself.

Seek support: this is very important. Reach out to close and trusted friends, relatives, or a therapist if you can share your struggles and goals with someone who can offer help and accountability.

Self Sabotage

Setting up unrealistic goals is something I do, setting myself up for failure and discouragement, while by setting reasonable goals and succeeding in them, I am encouraged and moving forward. !ALIVE

Yea, it's best to set reasonable goal for our own well being and mental health

Self-sabotage is far too common, and I'm very familiar with it myself as well. From my experience it stems from not believing that we are worthy or that we deserve what we want, hence we block our success in those areas. The suggestions that you give here, and that you're applying to your own life, are very good ones indeed. I've been working with those, and a few others, as well. Thank you for sharing your insights! Have a beautiful Wednesday! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

I couldn't have said it better myself, thank you ☺️

Learning from past experiences helps so much to strengthen our ways, because we have come across it, we will know the way to follow in getting that we want than falling into the track that was not favorable. In total, we have successfully help ourselves over sabotaging.

Thanks, I admire your reply.

Totally love that you learned a lot from your previous experiences fam ❤️❤️ And you have a good point here. Sometimes we sabotage ourselves because we feel overwhelmed by all the things that we need to do and all the fears and negative self-talk in our minds. Loved all the tips you gave ☺️

Am glad you loved my write up, thank you 🤗
