I think this is like the single thing that they can use for their advantage. Because otherwise, it's like you say, they're just normal people. And I think it's thanks to that influence that they manage to get some privileges, well, as long as that influence benefits the person or group that is giving that privilege. And maybe that's why some people are willing to risk it all to become famous.
It's a very high risk, it's a personal decision, but I personally believe it's not worth it.
