The Coolest New Component in Novopangea Web3 Game!

Creatures!

If you haven't checked out creatures yet, get on it. These things are the new sleeper in Novo!

At first glance you'll think you understand them, yet they do hold some mystery.

The creature loop is similar to the worker loop with key differences we will get to later.

First, let's dig into them a little...

What is a creature in the Novo universe?

For starters, creatures have been here since the beginning.

Until recently they have only shown up in the story cards. Now they are an integral part of the game.

Each realm has creatures associated with it.

Rappisha

Maker of darkness, is from Shadow Realm.

Caprilu

Life feeder, is from Light Realm.

Kriegox

The fiercest of predators, is from Space Realm

Duquadrix

A weapon programmed to obey, is from Time Realm.

Conshilla

Protector of what is sacred, is from Water Realm.

Tywu

The protector and servant of the land, is from Earth Realm.

Ok let's break down how they work in game...

The basic loop:

You send creatures to the wild, they hunt for resources and NFTs and then sleep. Much like workers.

You can send as many as 6 creatures into the wild (once upgraded). What they find is partially random. I've gotten dead draw tickets and even unskilled workers from sending them out.

So far it is already very well worth it to have it in your arsenal. They will find from nothing, to over 1500 of 3 different resources at once, and even occasional NFTs!

Upgrading Slots:

There are up to 6 slots you can use for creatures in all of your realms. The first 2 slots are open when you start game. To be able to open all 6 slots it takes upgrading as follows.

Slot 1Slot 2Slot 3Slot 4Slot 5Slot 6
openopen250 Novo500 Novo1500 Novo3000 Novo

All creature NFTs have a set of stats associated with them that help determine the rewards you will get from sending them out into the wild.

The following chart is a must have asset in determining potential rewards of your creatures.

Creature Stats Chart

EpicL6.66037518 hrs24 hrs
LegendaryL6.87037518 hrs24 hrs
MythicL78037518 hrs24 hrs

As you can see from this table there are rarities of creatures from common to mythic as well as sizes of creature from medium to large.

Medium creatures cost lest to feed and rest than large creatures and have a slightly lower scavenge/rest time as well as lower luck and weight.

While large creatures take longer to rest/scavenge as well as cost more to feed and has higher luck and weight.

Stats from this chart such as luck, weight, and rarity, greatly impact your total resources and/or NFTs gathered per trip.

Resting Creatures

Creatures require their own resting buildings separate from workers called creature farms and are specific to their realm type.

You can own or rent these buildings to rest your creatures.

Each creature farm requires a land just like any other building.

Each level 1 creature farm can sleep 2 creatures of it's realm type at a time. So if you wanted to own the most efficient full set for a single creature farm you would need one land, one creature farm and up to 4 creatures (one day they are out, the next they sleep so you overlap them)

Every time you send a creature out it has 4 chances to find a reward. Testing it's luck against each of the 3 in game resources as well as once for NFT rewards.

Here is another helpful chart showing the maximum allotted reward for a given resource:

EnergyBuilding MaterialsFood
200017501500

So, your creatures luck basically determines if you get a reward on each of the 4 mentioned criteria (3 resources then nft). Then the weight determines how much of that reward the creature can carry back home. Based on it's percentage of the total allotted reward for that resource type.

To determine what you might get from a creature in a particular resource type you would refer to the resource in question from this chart, and the weight of the creature you have in the Creatures Stats Chart above.

For instance, a common, medium creature will have luck of 40. This is a 40% chance to hit on each of the 4 resources/NFT rewards. If you hit with that creature, it's weight is 5. This is essentially 50% of the maximum allotted reward of that resource type. So if you hit on energy it would be 1000 energy, if you hit on building materials it will be 875, if you hit on food it will be 750.

Make sense?

So, rarity and size of creature will raise it's weight and luck. Which will ultimately raise how much you can carry back and how frequently you will get a reward in each type.

Why did I call these "the new sleeper in Novo"?

At first glance creatures may seem like a copy of workers with a few things tweaked. Yet workers are a set thing. There is no chance, or randomness. X level worker in Y type building gets Z amount of Y resource. Very straight forward.

With this we've gotten a sense of strategy, and chance, not found in workers.

In the level 1 creature alone we have 2 sizes, each with 6 possible sets of stats based on what creature you have. All of that gets 4 chances each time it goes out to produce something. Yes there are days you get nothing. Here is where you have 6 total slots available.

So far there isn't much difference between what Rappisha does vs Caprilu in game, yet there are plenty of ways to increase your creatures rewards as you grow in game.

Creatures can also be blended to get higher rarity.

This creates another layer to the complexity of this great new addition to game. If you have a pile of your best common creatures, trade them in for an uncommon, or uncommon to rare of the same creature!

  • 4 Common (same creature) + 100 NOVO = 1 Uncommon (same creature)
  • 4 Uncommon (same creature) + 250 NOVO = 1 Rare (same creature)

Blending is a great way to increase the rarity, therefore all other stats, of your favorite creatures.

Ultimately, to me, creatures are a great way to go for people already in the game and wanting to add complexity to their strategy. If you are brand new, workers might be a better fit as they have less facets and can break the ice a little for you.

The mystery left in creatures.

Creatures leave us with a bit of mystery as we are only seeing level 1 thus far.

Limited yet bounding, quietly alluring, what nature have they brought to future, unseen game?

What upcoming developments will we see in their lore or abilities?

Will they unlock anything special that only creature handlers can achieve?

Will they somehow affect the district community you're in?

All yet to be seen. So far I can tell I appreciate having them in game. They have proven to be a great asset to have since the first one I acquired.

I can also see really nice potential moving forward. Adding depth to our existing districts in game and extra strategy overall.

How do you get creatures?

  • You can buy them with fiat on Novopangea main site here.
  • You can get them for Novo on NeftyBlocks here.
  • You can buy for wax on Atomic Hub as well.
  • You can blend for higher rarity here.
