The torrential rain had been pouring relentlessly since yesterday evening, creating a dreary atmosphere that seemed to stretch indefinitely into the present moment. The gray clouds hung low in the sky, obscuring the once vibrant hues of the setting sun. As droplets pelted against the windows, an air of disappointment settled within me. It was time to take my two beloved cats, Salmon and Snow, out for their usual evening walk, but the incessant downpour made it an impossible endeavor.

My garden, usually teeming with life and energy, now stood deserted and forlorn under the weight of the rain. I knew all too well the risks associated with allowing cats to tread upon such wet surfaces – the danger of fungal infections lurking within the dampness. Reluctantly, I accepted the reality that this evening's adventure had to be abandoned.

Sitting by the window, I watched as Salmon and Snow perched on the windowsill, their tails flicking anxiously. Determined not to let the gloom engulf us completely, I resolved to engage them in play to divert their attention.

Fetching a colorful ball from their toy basket, I knelt down on the carpeted floor, my fingers fumbling with anticipation. I tossed the ball gently across the room, hoping to ignite their playful instincts. However, to my dismay, Salmon and Snow regarded the rolling object with disinterest.
