On that historic night, when the beam of light cut through the darkness and revealed the pulpit in the center of the stage, I stood with a burning passion. As chairman of the Malacca Millennial Expo 2022 committee, my responsibility to start the evening with a welcoming speech is not only an opportunity, but also an adrenaline-pumping challenge.
The journey to success began long before the first spotlight shone on my face. From January 2022, I have taken small steps, moving from one coffee shop to another, bringing a clear vision about the importance of strengthening local MSMEs and promoting the richness of regional arts and culture.
However, the journey was not easy. I faced technical challenges, logistical obstacles, and sometimes, even doubts from others. However, with strong determination and unshakable faith, I pressed on. Month after month passed, until finally in March 2022, I was no longer alone. Two confident friends joined us, bringing new enthusiasm and energy to pursue our dreams together.
Together, we carried out our mission to find committee members from various organizations in our district. We embrace individuals who are passionate and have a vision that is in line with ours, forming a solid team that is ready to face all challenges.
And in December, our goal was achieved. The opening night of the 2022 Malacca Millennial Expo will not only be an event, but a grand stage for local MSMEs to shine and regional arts performances to amaze. Thousands of people gathered, inspired to care more about their region, strengthen ties to their cultural heritage, and celebrate their identity with pride.
As I ended my speech that night, my closing words were the final highlight that filled the room: “A journey will only be a journey, but a journey accompanied by struggle, sweat and tears will be recorded as history.” Those words not only echoed in the room, but also summarized the feelings of all of us who have struggled to make this dream come true. And from that night, our every step will continue to be etched into the pages of North Aceh's glorious history.
