Greyish clouds covered the entire sky. Ok, it was something between white and grey, I can't really determine, but the fact you can see from my photos is that there was no blue. That blue sky I like a lot was separated from our view by this cloud layer. I felt also a few raindrops on my face while walking there. Next to the river Tisa, in a campsite.
I can say that we stopped here almost completely by accident. We set off that morning to meet some friends in a town that is about two and a half hours away by car from our place. We stopped to rest from driving as we were not in a hurry, we arrived earlier than the agreed time. So, what would be nicer than spending at least a little time in nature?
From the highway, we saw the river, and not much after it the sign showed that a campsite can be found there. Leaving the main road and entering the small path through the forest made my GPS lady go crazy. Make a U-turn.
I ignored that voice, shut it off and we continued towards this place. When we arrived, the first impression was that it was just an abandoned place, but soon we saw the boats and a few children playing football in a kind of improvised playground.
The wind was blowing, you can notice it also on the bent tree trunks and the soft branches and leaves of this tree. The willow trees were following the path all the way by the riverside.
Plenty of space and benches with tables, like small picnic areas were scattered in the shade of the tall trees. It was very pleasant, and to my major surprise, there were no mosquitoes at all. Well, neither people were around... Just on one spread-out blanket, there was a group of people sitting and chatting. A nice time they had!
I entered a bit further into the campsite and found the houses. Actually, cottages. They are simple, and some of them were pretty old. Seemed that many of them were out of use, but it was strange as we are in the middle of summer. A few years ago we went to a campsite for a weekend in Hungary, by one lake. The cottages were fully occupied and also there were a lot of tents and mobile homes. That's why it was completely strange for me, why these cottages were closed. No human activity around could be seen...
Strolling there around I found one board where I read the name of this place. According to that board, it is called the Zabalj Bridge picnic area. The board gave me some info that there are sports courts for basketball and volleyball and children's playgrounds. A swimming pool is also mentioned, but I really could not see it. Who knows, maybe it existed some years ago, but according to the level of activities around (almost none), maybe it was closed too.
Not far away from the cottages, I stumbled upon a very cool thing!! I found some really, but really old wagons. Maybe they were supposed to be refurbished and used as cottages? They were in very bad shape, they would need some work to be done on them, but imagine then how cool they would be!
They are cool in this condition too, but not for use as a place to stay or sleep inside. Just for exploration and going back in time. How old they can be? 50, 60 years, or maybe more?
Finally, a dog approached me around those wagons. He was friendly and after some moments he let himself be cuddled. We gave him a bit of water from our hands, but then we left. He stayed to guard this very nice, but not busy place.
Beautiful photos and a great place to stay!
It is quiet, calm and there is a brave watchman who lay down to rest after work :-)
There is nothing to be afraid of with such a watchman! :-)
I also think it is a great place to stay.
I would spend there my summer, however, I realise there are facilities that are missing... for example have nearby a small shop, and a grocery, so one doesn't have to go to the next town ( that is more than ten km away, or more)
The guardian was sweet :))
You are now like an experienced cyclist, so it's not a problem for you to cover 10 kilometers 😅
😂😂 hahha, almost experienced cyclist :))
and just need to have a bit less years haha 😂
No, age is not a hindrance, unless it affects in kilograms like mine 🤣
What a cool empty place!
Looks like a very tiring job for the doggie to guard all that. He is adorable! :D
Haha, maybe a tiring job indeed. I do hope he had an owner, somewhere around there.
So weird that it was empty? I see you're quite on an adventure ^^ also what a cute dog, thanks for giving him some water!
Giving him water was interesting, from our hands as we didn't have any bowl or similar... he was not willing to drink from the bottle 😂
The place is quite old but it seems nice to me. Then I loved the place, so peaceful. Doggie is so adorable and very brave to be a guard in a big big place.
I like the place too. What was strange is that there was not much activity around... if I would have a cottage there, I would spend my summer there :D
Yuhh I see. The place will be more useful if they will put some intertainment that people love to visit all the time.

I love the environment, it looks so serene and peaceful. If I were living in an environment like this, I'd be able to reflect, concentrate and be more productive. As compared to an environment where you hear generator sound always 🤦♂️
That camp house looks like it was owned by a Red Cross group. Well, I said so because I saw their symbol on one of the truck-house.
Wonderful exploration...
I believe there is a reason for being here... maybe the accident was a necessity 😉
Hearing the sound of the generators all the time must be very uncomfortable. And stressful.
Some months ago, I was listening to the radio, to one programme where the gusts talked about the impact of everyday noise on our health. It seems that constant noise affects the quality of sleep. And we know how important is to have a good sleep...
Yes, one of the wagons had that red cross sign. It was interesting to see and think about how it could be some decades ago :)
Such an interesting place to wander around.
Those kind of stops can give you surprises, they are cool too.
That would make a nice place with some TLC.
Have a wonderful day today @mipiano 🤗😊👋🏻
I was nicely surprised too, to stroll there and encounter those cottages and wagons. And the doggie of course :)
Thanks Jackie, have a great evening you too 😇
I did see that in the photos 😉
Good night 😴
Thank you so much! You are welcome dear @mipiano 👋🏻 Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Despite the gray clouds the site looks beautiful, it gives a sense of peace. I imagine that some time ago it saw more activity and for some reason not so much anymore.
It is always fun to walk around and explore the places, so we find interesting things.
It was indeed a peaceful and calm place. So cool we stopped there, without knowing what that place is and how it is.
I see it in the same way, as the activity slowed down over time. Maybe people have less time...
exactly :)
