The marigold is a herbaceous perennial flowering plant. Its native habitat is Bangladesh. This wild plant, which is very familiar in rural Bengal, is also known as vit, banjui or ghetu.

The entire surface of the plant is covered with flowers. They are slightly smaller than bellflowers in shape, but usually have five petals.
