Blood cockles are a type of shellfish that are commonly found in Hive friends' sea waters. This shellfish is known for its thick shell and chewy meat, making it a popular ingredient in various Hive friends' seafood dishes.

Characteristics of Blood Cockles:

Size: Adults, blood cockles are about 5 to 6 cm long and 4 to 5 cm wide.

Habitat: Lives at the bottom of tidal waters, often found buried in sand or mud.

Shell Color: The shell is yellowish brown with clear radial lines.

Benefits of Consuming Blood Cockles:

  • Protein Source: Blood cockles are rich in protein which is important for the growth and repair of body cells.

  • Mineral Content: Contains minerals such as iron, zinc, and selenium which are beneficial for body health.

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Some types of shellfish contain omega-3 fatty acids which are good for heart health.

Shellfish should also not be consumed in excess because it can cause cholesterol and uric acid for Hive friends.
