At the beginning of the New Year, most Thai people make merit by offering fresh food to monks for good fortune in the New Year.

 Hello friends, before the start of February, our family made an appointment to make merit by offering fresh food to the monks at the temple. Normally, we would give alms at the beginning of the year, the beginning of January, but since we had to attend a funeral for a relative, we still haven’t given alms on Thai New Year’s Day.

 Today is a holiday. We made an appointment a week ago to come and do it today. So we chose a forest temple. We like this temple because it is peaceful and not chaotic for the laypeople, relatives, or monks. It is a forest temple, peaceful, shady, with many trees, and quiet, suitable for listening to the monks give blessings. We like the ceremony here. It is not chaotic. The monks chant quickly, finish quickly, receive blessings quickly, and then go home to rest.

 While waiting for the monks to come down to receive alms around 8 am, the temple will have small pamphlets with prayers in them. There will be a voice leading the prayers like a tape recording for the people waiting to give alms to read the prayers and meditate to calm their minds for the time being.

 But we asked to walk inside the temple because there are many trees, it is shady and peaceful, we can take pictures to post for our friends to see. There are volunteers or fellow human beings who like to make merit and help clean the temple without charging any fee, they want to help the temple and do not expect anything in return.

 After giving alms and listening to the monks' blessings, we went home. Before going home, we stopped to find something delicious to eat, and the most important thing was fresh coffee.
