Curiosity can sometimes take us to unexpected places. Like me who dared to visit Lhok Seulayang, a hidden destination in the remote area of North Aceh. It is said that this place holds natural beauty that is still virgin.
Armed with limited information from Google Maps and stories from several acquaintances, I dared to follow the road to this location. Throughout the journey, my mind was filled with images of what kind of scenery I would encounter. Maybe like Raja Ampat? 😊 Ah, too ambitious. Or at least like Pangandaran Beach? Hehe... imaginations do like to run wild.
When I arrived there, I was greeted by a quite charming view. Lhok Seulayang is apparently a small river with clear greenish water that creates quite an exotic panorama. Like finding a hidden 'treasure' in the middle of the interior of Aceh.
Without wasting any time, I immediately took out my smartphone. As an impromptu photographer, I tried to capture every interesting angle that caught my eye and almost slipped to get the right angle. Luckily no one saw, otherwise I might have become a laughing stock.
Unfortunately, time cannot be compromised. The clock was already showing 6 pm when I had just started enjoying the atmosphere. In Aceh, at that time it was already starting to get dark. With a heavy heart (and sore feet), I had to end this short adventure.
On the way home, I smiled to myself imagining how short the visit was. Came, took pictures, went home. Like a quick tourist. But at least my curiosity had been satisfied, even though I still wanted to come back again with more thorough preparation and more time.
Lhok Seulayang may not be a super famous tourist destination. There are no luxurious facilities or rides waiting. But it is precisely its simplicity and naturalness that make it special. A proof that the natural beauty of Aceh still holds many surprises to be explored.
And hey, at least I have a story to tell my friends: "Have you ever heard of Lhok Seulayang? That's the tourist spot that... eh, wait, the photo is still on the camera. Let me take it!" 😊
Here are some natural photos at the location and I hope my online friends enjoy them!
