RE: Ask Me Anything - Marky Edition

Heyo, Mark.

Will you move your autovote to, at least, minimum 5 minutes so that manual curators can have some incentive to curate manually (voting first) and to give them a bit of time to engage on the post?

If I may ask another question... Do you think manual curation is a dying art? Is that something that is still respected on our blockchain?

Whoops, that's 3 questions but are connected tightly.

Thanks for this initiative and possible answers.

Peace yo,

Mr. Spacely

No, everyone else is doing it. I'm actually one of the few actually giving out a vote worth a damn ($3-$5+). Most can give big votes but only choose to give out a couple cents as it is purely for curation rewards and not for actually supporting people.

I don’t think it is dead but as long as we are not onboarding new authors on a regular basis there really isn’t a whole lot to manually curate.

It is very respected but I can’t justify spending 4-12 hours reading posts daily where most are minimum effort and highly rewarded. I choose to support people I feel produce good content and/or putting in effort. If either change, I adjust my votes. This allows me to focus on other things as well.

Not the answer I suspect you are looking for a but it is honest.

Ok, I understand that point of view but I don't agree with it because it's not good for the future.

I agree, most of the time while manually curating I am looking at low effort posts that are wasting my time.

Thanks, I was looking for an honest answer so I am more than satisfied.

I don't agree with it either, but that's what is going on. If you don't participate your stake becomes worth less than those do.

I actually give out real votes though, most of the people voting early are giving out the smallest vote they can and it is nothing about distributing rewards. Just look at the first five minutes of any post to see what I am talking about.

I know what r u talking about since I am manually curating and it is frustrating to compete with those autovotes and it demotivates me a lot. I can't even read a full fckin post and all of a sudden it gets autovoted like crazy.

But, I won't go to the dark side and auto vote. At least not yet while I have some motivation left in me.
