In my short time here, I have come to realise that it is built on a foundation of showing support for others while allowing them express their originality in whatever interests they have.
The good thing about this is that as you support others you are also being supported hence its a win-win situation.

Being a newbie, I didn't really understand some of the terms used on the platform. Terms like Up voting, Ecency points, Reputation, Hive Power, Tips and badges e.t.c
I decided to reach out to my mentor @jaydr who explained some things to me and I must say I'm in a better position knowledge-wise than I was before.

However, Like they say, ""Rome was not built in a day", so I'm taking the lessons in bits as I implement what I'm being taught per time.
Once again I've been given an assignment by my tutor @jaydr to make a post on the aforementioned topic; THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGAGEMENT ON THE HIVE PLATFORM AND HOW I INTEND TO KEEP UP WITH IT
As with any social platform, Engagement is important for it's success. If there are no engagements, the platform soon becomes redundant.
The same is true for the Hive block chain which is a web3 based social media platform that enables its users gain rewards for each act of engagement on the platform.

Ways To Engage on the Hive Block Chain
✓ Creating posts:
The platform encourages originality, and creativity hence each users are encouraged to create content as a means of engaging the platform. The type of content could be in form of writing, Pictures or Videos, always based on whatever the interest of the creator is.
With each post created, each user earns a reward from the hive platform in form of Ecency points.
The user can also earn rewards from the upvotes of other users.
That leads me to the next point.

✓ Up voting Posts:
When a user creates a post in a community, members of that community can show support for that user by Up voting the post if they like the content shared.
A user's voting power is what determines how much weight a user's vote carries.
The more an author's content gets voted, the more his/ her Reputation increases in the platform.
I find it interesting to see that as you upvote other people's content you also get some rewards too. So its a win win for everyone.

✓ Making Comments on other user's posts:
We are encouraged to make meaningful amd thoughtful comments on posts made by others.
This shows the author that you read the post, and makes them more encouraged to write or share more.
You also receive Ecency points for each comments you make. Another Win-win!
✓ Engaging your Engagers:
I coined this phrase not to sound like a guru, but to drive home a point here.
When you create a post and other users engage them by commenting, it's always a good thing to engage their comments by sending in your replies too.
This fosters more communication and connectedness.
Another angle to this would be that you go to each person that engaged your posts (via comments, upvotes, e.t.c) and read their own posts too.
This helps you to also read from them, learn from them and encourage them too.

✓ Reblogging posts:
When a user likes the content of another user, he/she could reblog the post as a means of supporting what was shared.
I see reblogging as sharing posts you like or resonate with.
This helps the author gain more visibility and hence potentially more rewards.
HOW TO GUAGE YOUR LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT
Ecency platform has a way of encouraging top engagers on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
The Leaderboard shows the details of the top engagers.
I am less than a week in terms of engagement on the Hive Platform (starting from the day I created my Introductory post).
But I caught my name @love1506 as Number 25 on the leaderboard on one of those days and I was impressed. I'm glad I took a screenshot, I didn't know even know what it meant then.
HOW DO I INTEND TO KEEP UP WITH ENGAGEMENT ON THE PLATFORM

Like the saying goes, "Failing to plan is Planning to Fail."
My engagement strategy based on my current schedule is therefore as follows:
• Publishing at least 1-2 posts on alternate days
• Commenting on at least 5-10 posts daily
• Up voting at least 5-10 posts daily
I hope to adhere to my strategy above.
I will definitely evaluate the results and review if necessary as time goes on.
