The conceptualization I have is that to date the genetics of Vitiligo is still in doubt. Therefore, there are several theories: some suggest that it is a polygenic condition but this is not entirely clear. Others advocate and defend non-genetic factors associated with the pathogenesis of the disease entity.
What I share and some consider it is that it is a condition that affects and compromises the immune system, so it is considered an autoimmune disease.

Yes.. it is mostly autoimmune and this could have have some genetic variation leading to it based on instructions received by immune cells to attack self cells.
