RE: Can Liketu Be Hive's Answer To Appics?

in The CTP Swarm3 years ago (edited)

The economic models of HIVE and Twitter/Instagram/whatever are too different. Hive is based on a shared finite reward pool (inflation).

On the other hand Twitter/Instagram basically ONLY monetarily rewards people with large followings or whose name have brand value. This is both very mercenary and makes perfect sense in the advertising/sponsorship world.

On HIVE it's possible for an unfamous person to get monetary value from a short tweet or snap. This is acceptable as long as the reward payout is low. Let me ask you this, would this same person get any sort of monetary reward on Twitter/Instagram/Snapchat etc.? Would any advertising firm or sponsorship company pay them? Of course not.

If this same unfamous person then starts getting payouts of hundred of dollars or more for a short tweet or quick pic on HIVE but not having the fame factor to justify it makes no sense. This person is not bringing HIVE any outside attention or free advertising at all and constantly draining the finite reward pool for basically shitposting.

I know this idea is controversial but what is needed is a whitelist for who can earn what for short form content based on the "fame meter". Basically If you're Elon Musk level of famous then you can earn unlimited for a short tweet or pic on HIVE. If nobody has heard of you outside of HIVE then expect your payout to be limited to whatever the community thinks is acceptable.

Sort:

so you are saying, a level or something to reach before you start getting pay outs for the short form content?

i personally like the rep. system. i know a lot of people hate it, but i use it for a gauge myself...to see how i'm doing lol

Actually I meant the level of brand power outside of the Hive ecosystem. Number of followers on other platforms like Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Something that would bring additional awareness to the blockchain. Rep or number of followers on Hive doesn't really matter as it would bring no additional outside attention or free advertising to the blockchain.

This is why I prefer short form content to be experimented on the second layer first. This is what makes Project Blank (if it ever comes out) so excitiing for Hive.
