I started this little journey in career change almost a year ago....
Dedicated months to learn how to drive these machines. Dealt with companies that never ended up paying me for my time...
To say I'm frustrated with it all is an understatement!
In today's quick episode of Adventures in Trucking, Jongo asks the question...
Is this the end of Jongo the Trucker?
Hope you enjoy my rants......It's quick one ;)

That sucks, I am sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you are making the best decision for your family right now. Maybe one day things will fall into place for you.
That's my thinking. I got the CDL, and I have 6 months of experience under my belt. I'm just not going to stress myself out trying to find a job in that industry right now.
Especially not during the holidays! No stress allowed!
So, when the government offered to pay for all these people to learn how to drive trucks they had to know that the companies required people to have experience. How do the companies get away with not paying people? That's just screwed up. How much would it cost for you to carry your own insurance? Probably stupid expensive like self-employed health insurance. I can totally understand why you're taking a hiatus from trucking, @jongolson.
It's insanity. Especially up here will all the trucking accidents that made the headlines. Truck companies are super cautious of who they hire.
I don't suppose there are any independent truckers any more for kind of the same reasons.
It's too flipping risky all the way around. The whole not getting paid thing is another story.
Does Canada not have a Department of Labor? Of course for all the good ours does I suppose it doesnt' make a difference.
Have a great day, Jon

The old catch 22! The experienced drivers are at work, new hires need experience. Funny how that works in so many industries.
When I was a kid I delivered newspapers for 6 to 8 months without getting paid. Not cool!
The worst thing about it, the government here paid for all these new truck drivers. So you have thousands of people looking for work now because of the 'shortage of drivers' but no company will hire new drivers.
That's pretty wild. I am here in Jamaica and I was hearing some wild things about the treatment of Canadian truck drivers during the last few years. You can never believe what you hear at the barber shop and in the supermarket but I guess it was true since you are there
I think it is normal to be fed up of your job at some point in time but later, you may pick up interest again
Follow your will though
Never know. At least I got my license. So I can drive again whenever.
Time to move to the islands! You know the location and I hear the chicken is incredible ;)
ha ha ha ha ha Yeah man, enough of this madness!
When are we leaving????
It sucks to hear that you got laid off. I guess it makes sense since they want to cut expenses when they don't have much business. I guess trucking is tough during the holiday season.
Yeah I knew it was coming. But if there is a future in this stuff, I wont see it until the new year for sure.
If you come to England i can probably get you a job with a good trucking company, pays about £1,000 per week
Oh man, if only!
That would be a nice income for sure!
It's unfortunate that you've faced so many barriers. I hope you get a break soon.
On another note have you explored jobs in the web3 space? I was looking myself and there's alot of vacancies as community managers, sales, marketing jobs..... for web3 companies. This is something I'd rather do than the industry that I currently work in.
Here's the link I tried- https://web3.career/
Google jobs is great as well as it pulls jobs from across the www
Give them a try.
I think some companies woud value your experience, content and following.
Then start your own trucking company afterwards😁
ha ha ha ha thanks for that!
Yeah that seems to be where the money is though in trucking...owning your on truck!
