I am in crypto since 2017-18 so I burned my fingers in the first big craze and since then my cryptos have been lying around. I used some faucet sites like coinpot and freebitcoin and bitcoin aliens.
So after the first crypto craze I was really not into crypto at all but I hung onto my Eth, unfortunately I spent my BTC on empire market to buy some exotic flowers (khm). When I look back at that transaction from a year ago I have to puke, its kind of a I spent my BTC for pizza story. Basically I spent about 2k (in todays price) on empire market and had another 2k sitting there when they suddenly disappeared with my BTC...
I started looking into passive and semi passive income streams around Oktober last year and thats mainly because I started a new job where I can actually think about investing and saving up money. Before that I really lived on a day to day basis. So I started several things in the crypto world. I opened an account at bitpanda where I have a savings plan for ADA, BEST(own ecosystem token of Bitpanda) and the BCI25. But yes thats another thing I did. I started creating affiliate and referral links to everything I use on the internet. After that I was looking for ways to promote these links, and thats how I found publish0x and somehow hive.

Publish0x is a nice way to earn some drips of crypto. The best thing is that after publishing your article it is there for anyone to find and click on it, I don´t make a lot of money there but I had a decent amount of signups to my links. What I also like about it that there is no time limit how long your articles can make crypto its just there so after publishing it gets to be a passive income. When I first came to hive I was overwhelmed by the possibilities, so much to learn and so many friendly people all very helpful. When I heard about the Liotes project I thought this is the opportunity to be part of something right from the start. So I went to binance and loaded up over a 1000 hive and bought myself some LENM tokens. And ever since I used my post payouts to just load up more on this project. I loaded up on hive yesterday again just to see that the price went down more so I loaded up today once more :) (I really do not like it when I buy the dip and it dips further)
To me crypto is an investment and investments tend to be long term in my mind. I don´t like the thought of chasing this 1 coin that gives you a 1000 fold return. Of course it would be nice to just retire tomorrow and only concentrate on the nice things, but I am totally happy when by the time I retire, thats still about 25 years, I will be able to not think about money and just live off what I have.
I wanted to keep my crypto investments small in comparison to all the other investments I have since the volatility and the risks are high. Due to the rising prices of crypto this plan got a little shaken since
I only invested 20 % of my savings into crypto it now makes about 70% of my portfolio. We will see where the train goes and if it stops somewhere. To me hive is absolutely the way to go! Especially when we all focus our efforts to onboard new users and users that actually make use of the platform and dapps. So far I have onboarded 12 accounts in 6 weeks and I will try to fill up the 100 referrals badge by the end of the year.
As soon as HIVE moves into the space where people talk about it and want to get involved this machine will go to the moon!
You can see it on NFT showroom where at the time I registered there was about 600 artists. Today there is more than 900! (I onboarded 4 new users there and one actually started minting so I get the 5%of minting costs)This is my second second income stream on hive. I have a nice gallery and I did not update prices after the dip so everything should be very cheap today. Go shopping!
To me crypto started as a magic lottery ticket to riches I can not even imagine, and now it is one of my investment forms where I also can make a passive income. For me writing is something I always liked and this is the perfect platform for that. I am really very very thankful to whoever onboarded me. Is there a way to see who did that?

I tend to look at a lot of things and I enjoy going on discovery journeys on the internet. Trying to figure the nices projects out there. Since I joined hive, I haven't found anything that comes close to it. In my opinion this is the perfect place for newcomers to find a community and to write about their passion. As you said, once people start to discover it's potential...
Fun fact. I actually learned about hive (steem at a time) from a book that I was looking through in a book store :-)
