Recently I read a post by @ph1102. #MyHiveGoals. It was a good post. For others it may not have been an earth-shattering or spectacular post (sorry - not downing it), but for me it was those things. Somehow the universe placed it before my eyes at just the right time and place.
I have seen #MyHiveGoals posts before and have basically thought "How nice. They have goals.". For whatever reason though, this post struck a chord with me. I don't know if it was the writing (probably) or circumstance, but I just couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to make some Hive Goals!
You see, I hate goals. I have always hated goals. Never liked them. My entire life. Hate them. Looked down upon people that made them. Goals entail comittment...
I have no idea why this might be, but I do not like structure imposed upon me (from outside or from within). Maybe some deep-seated authority issues from childhood. Probably not, I don't know. It is what it is.
For some reason, reading this post hit me like a ton of bricks. It was like a sudden realization. "Steemstreems. All the things that suck in your life are because you're a stubborn old goat who won't plan or make goals!"
Well. I'm not quite sure if that is completely true, but it seems to be somewhat true, and I have reached a point in my life that I am open to trying something new.
Don't get me wrong. I actually do pretty well compared to others in many aspects of my life. The is the problem. I am not satisfied. I know I could be more. I know I could be better than I am.
This is exactly the case with Hive. I actually do "OK" by chaotically bumbling along, but I see all these people with goals and think "Baaaahhh!! I could do better than that!!"
The reality is I could.
The reality is I don't!!
Because I have no plans. No goals. No targets. No direction.
Well today I am going to take some first steps to changing that situation.
Will it work out? Who knows, but I have been trying it "my" way for a long, long time and am not in a satisfactory place for myself.
In the comments of that post, I had a short exchange and told @ph1102 that I was going to make some goals by September 1. Here is me doing that :-)
I am sure that these are not gonna be the greatest ever, but it is a start. I am sure that I won't be happy with this post, but I am gonna post it :-)
I am also gonna work on refining and fleshing out these goals every week for the next several months at least. See where it goes.
Here goes!
Numbers in BOLD ITALIC are 10 year goals. They are moonshots. Possibly not realistic. I reserve the right to change them over the coming weeks :-)
The others are "1 year" goals to be reached by the end of 2023. Gonna give myself an extra 4 months :-) I tried to be more realistic with those.
These are all general goals. Over the coming weeks, I will attempt to get them into a better format (spreadsheet or table) and add some specific weekly goal targets. I just want to get started while the inertia was there and put it out there.
Hive
In general, I want to increase my engagement. More blog posting. More meaningful comments. More curation. All of that more consistently.
Posts
10 year - 1,000
1 year - 100
Lifetime total so far (~ 4 years): 155 (what HiveBuzz says -- Hmmmm...)
Goal for this week: 2
This category is gonna be tough for me. Blogging is not my forte.
Comments
10 year - 20,000
1 year - 2,000
Lifetime total so far (~ 4 years): 1681
Goal for this week: 20
20 is probably a little low, but we'll start there and make sure I am not over estimating my ability to consistently comment.
Upvotes
10 year - 40,000
1 year - 4,000
Lifetime total so far (~ 4 years): 14,801
Goal for this week: 50
This goal may also be on the low side. If it is, I will quickly ramp it.
Now on to Hive token goals.
HIVE
10 year - 20,000
1 year - 2,000
Current Balance: 213.938
Goal for this week: 1 additional
This is a low goal that I will quickly ramp up as I go. I may also add large amounts from other investments as they come available.
I expect to comfortably be able to average around 20/week once I get things rolling. Will also probably increase my 10 year goal by the end of this year.
HBD
10 year - 1,000
1 year - 100
Current Balance: 4.623 (in savings)
Goal for this week: 1 additional
I am not particularly interested in HBD. It does have a nice interest right now though. Will keep this goal low and focus on HP as much as possible.
LeoFinance
This is where I want to get really aggressive. It is my favorite community and the one that I feel has the best outlook in the Hive universe. Most of the scarce blogging that I might do will likely be there.
I already have a nice large stake there and in its' satellite projects (Cub Finance and PolyCub). I already engage with this community and use its' products.
That said, I would like to do more.
LP
10 year - 500,000
1 year - 100,000
Current Balance: 44,949.82
Goal for this week: 200 additional
I have purposely set this a little high to focus myself :-)
LEOMM
10 year - 2200
1 year - 2200
Current Balance: 2192.03
Goal for this week: Place a bid on the market for 1 LEOMM
My main goal here is to hold what I've got for now and long-term. Just gonna try and get to 2200 for OCD reasons :-)
LEOM
10 year - 65
1 year - 65
Current Balance: 64.14
Goal for this week: Place a bid on the market for 1 LEOM
Like LEOMM, I really just want to hold.
ClickTrackProfit
A while back, I started in ClickTrackProfit, but moved away. I am really interested in the community and it's initiatives. Plan to restart ClickTrackProfit and begin Listnerds.
CTP
10 years - 30,000
1 year - 300
Current Balance: 30.28
Goal for this week: 4 additional
Think this may be a bit more than I can do, but once again I would like to force focus.
CTPM
10 years - 1,000
1 year - 100
Current Balance: 0
Goal for this week: Place a bid on the market for some CTPM
This one hurts. I used to have many and sold them cheap. Guess I am gonna have to pony up to get some back :-) They told me, but I wouldn't listen. Gonna work on this one slowly at first.
CTPSB
10 years - 100
1 year - 10
Current Balance: 0
Goal for this week: Research in expectation of starting buys.
STEMGeeks
This is one of the other communities that I have always had an interest in, but never really engaged. I will begin to test the waters and see if I can find ways to engage and add value there.
STEM
10 years - 3,000
1 year - 300
Current Balance: 10.29
Goal for this week: 1 additional
Will just begin slowly buying this one and increase my engagement there for building my token count.
STEMM
10 years - 200
1 year - 60
Current Balance: 0
Goal for this week: Place a bid on the market
PSYBER-X
I am heavily into this token. Will not aggressively add more of this one just yet, but will slowly increase. Once the game comes out I will likely work on further ways to increase my stack!
LVL
10 years - 10,000,000
1 year - 5,000,000
Current Balance: 3,830,404
Goal for this week: 25,000 additional
As I expected, I am not quite satisfied with these goals yet. I will be refining and clarifying in the coming weeks. Thanks to any one who read all or most of this. You're a saint!
I am not sure yet, but will likely try to do this weekly and shoot for Sundays. If I can do it that means the next one will be in a few days and be a short "week". Pressures on!!
Oh. One more thing. When going down the #MyHiveGoals rabbit-hole I found the first blog by @robwillmann. #MyHiveGoals
He mentioned posting it on CTPtalk. I don't usually post there, but it is one of the communities in which I am interested.
A lot of participants in #MyHiveGoals seem to be CTP members, so I am gonna post from that front-end. Kind of my first step in getting re-involved in their community.
See everyone in a few days! :-)
Thanks for the mention! I'm glad that you did it!!
I bet you can do better and I bet that these Hive goals will help you to achieve them! It helped me a lot and there is no reason that they will not help you too... Just be persistent, and after 2-3 #MyHiveGoals reports you will see the results!
Now, I would have a suggestion on your goals, but I don't want to mess them up for you... Just trying to help... :) Maybe you should reduce the number of goals as in that way you could easier FOCUS on what's really important... Keep them simpler and probably better motivators for the future... Of course, that's just a suggestion... Goals are yours and you know best what you want to accomplish!
Good luck!!!
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!
Happy to mention!
Suggest away! Lord knows I need all of the help I can get ! HaHa!!
You are almost certainly right. I will prioritize and simplify for the next one. There will be plenty of time to expand and flesh things out down the road. I already know that the psyber-x stuff is going to take time, so that one is an easy one to shift a little into the future.
Thanks once again for your inspiration. Unintended though it may be!
Have a great day!

Welcome back!
Having Goa;s are an important start. It's not about if you can make them or not it's more about the feelong you get when you do. Also, having goa;s is your roadmap to where you are headed and if you don't make your goals this year, keep strivin to make them work.
Since you're connected to the CTP community (so am I), try getting involved in their #TRHIVEONHIVE Challenge it really shows you the way to build on Hive.
You can Do It!!

Thank you so much!
I do think it's going to be a constant process :-)
I will have to take a look at #THRIVEONHIVE, though I think I vaguely remember possibly seeing it in the past.
Yes, it's a process for sure, You wouldn't believe the many things I've been through in the last couple of years. I could write a book....LOL!
#THRIVEONHIVE techniques have been around for a while as @jongolson has been teaching us these things since he bought us to the blockchain but the 'Challenge' is somewhat new... about 3 weeks old & even if you can't seem to fit it in your schedule then just adopt one action at a time and you'll be surprised at what a difference the little things you do can make.

Yeah. I probably bit off more than I can chew with the first goals, but I will modulate and gain some steam in the next few weeks for sure.

That's okay. Last year I set my goals way to high, some I made and some I didn't. That made me realize that some goals (as achievable as they could be), take a little longer then others. Especially when you have to buy them & as for hive it can be difficult to achieve your higher goals since you need hive to buy any other token. As long as you plan to hodl & build, it just takes patience, it will happen.
Thanks!
I have never been a goal-setter. Not really a goal-completer either, but I have determined to give it a good go and se what happens. In fact as I type this I am trying to work on my first week "report".
It was a short week (I knew it would be) and I didn't make all of my goals (spoiler), but made more than I thought possible.
Thanks for the encouragement!

I was never really big on goal setting either, but once I started, now I have goals for just about everything. Some I give a timeline and some I don't. What helps me most in meeting my goals is making cheats sheets and tracking sheets, they help to keep me on task & remember the things I need to do before jumping around here & there.
It's okay if you don't meet all your goals, you'll find that as time go on you're doing more & more.

We, humans, are great at cheating ourselves (and others too, lol!). Goals help us work with a purpose, focused IF we are motivated in achieving them.
I would suggest making your moonshot goals a little shorter term. 10 years in crypto is an eternity, and you won't be able to approximate anything. You could do 10x times that in 10 years, it's a lot of compounding effect taking place.
Thanks for the advice. You are almost certainly correct. When forming those I waffled between making them 10 or 5. Got scared and went for 10.
I think I may move them back to 5 when I get to the end of this month and see how things go. Gonna get 4 weeks in and do some real re-evaluation and prioritizing.

5 seems better! And I also believe that you should go on for a while with the goals and see how well you estimated them. Especially since you are not used to setting goals.
Thanks! Will do!
