Playing with three old MF lenses on Nikon D3300

in Photography3 years ago (edited)

Hi guys,

What's up? I hope everything is going good for y'all.

Thanks to a post of @ewkaw , that inspires me to write about some amateur experiences of playing around three MF old lenses with my Nikon D3300: Nikkor, Paragon, and Tokina. They are all prime lenses and of-course all are used /second-hand.

I love collecting old lenses from old film cameras. However, it is kinda expensive and rare when I want to collect old lenses in Lithuania (shipping of ebay and Amazon from UK to Lithuania is crazy). So online flea market is the only option I can afford my hobby.

Old lenses are the pain in my ass due to its manual focus but they are worthy for their durable metal bodies, their giving amazing bokeh, nostalgic colours, and addictive click sounds when shooting photos. Each lens has different click sounds as I notice 😁

It is very cold outside and I was a bit busy at work so I did not take many photos.

Nikkor MF 50mm 1:1.4 - The bokeh is smooth and it gives very good sharp image. The color of the photo is bit warmer than other lenses I tried. One small weird issue is when I clicked to shoot, the manual ring a bit moving. I used this lens all the time.

Tokina RMC 28mm 1:2.8 - it gives the wider angle. The bokeh is good but less smooth than the nikkor one. The color is nice and a bit green-blue-ish.

Paragon zoom 135mm 1:2.8 - This lens is not recommended to be used without camera tripod. Whatever I tried, I could not take sharp focus if I hold the camera with this lens by hand. When the weather is warmer, I will use tripod and test this lens again. If it is not better, I just put it off on my display cabinet 😂 .

As I wrote above that I am an amateur photo shooter and I really love photography. So I am all eyes for any advices and comments. Thank you so much for your reading.

Have a nice day!

Yea.. those metal ones are almost indestructible!
I really like the Nikkor version of the pinecone. I like how soft the image is.

Glad you showed them all :)

Thanks! Nikkor lense is the most favourite of my lenses for Nikon D3300. It offers the very smooth and nice bokeh and even very much better than the modern AF Nikon Lens 28mm F1.8 I purchased recently.

Have a good night!

Oh! Cool! You will be my photograph sensei haha! I am thinking to get a digital camera someday this year! 😄👍👍
🥦 !LUV 🥦

I saw your very nice photo (maybe taken by your phone)in your travel blogs but if you want to play around with lenses and DSLR cameras, be careful because it is addictive 😹😹 and expensive LOL

Haha I see! I just want to buy a digital camera 📷 not too expensive but I can videotape a video with higher quality and be able to connected to my mobile 📱 phone. 😆
