Cloudy everyday life

in Photography3 years ago

Well, there is something in cloudy snowy weather and that's it! No matter how hard the first photographic teacher tried to discourage me from shooting in cloudy weather, nothing came of it. But the second teacher very much welcomes such a weather condition.

Cloudy weather can also be of different tonality.

At first glance, it seems that everything is the same, but no.

The sky is always a different color. Yes, exactly the color! There is a feeling as if it is always gray if covered with clouds.

But it can be from blue to yellowish-gray in the daytime and up to orange-red at night.

Usually, if it is cloudy, it means warmth. But this is in winter. In summer it can be the other way around.

This kind of weather is very fond of documentary reporters for its soft light tone.

And I just love it as a condition.

It's like black and white photography, where you have to think not with light spots, but with geometry, lines, patterns, texture.

The second half of the post contains photographs from another cloudy day, which is different in tone from the first.

Any color stands out well in cloudy weather.

But if you don't shoot during the blue hour, then the snow in this case should be white.

That is, the white balance needs to be hit in the snow.

If twilight has come, well, that is, the blue hour, then, as I already wrote, you need to focus on the presence of artificial lighting sources.

In cloudy weather, one more rule also works in black and white photography - this is the presence of contrasting objects, or in other words, the presence of a black point.

There are no restrictions in this weather and you can shoot in absolutely any photographic genre.
